Why doesn't Riot show us what our MMR is?

Why does Riot not tell us what our MMR is? Is there any reason for it? They don't tell us our MMR and then they go and say "oh yeah no don't listen to that 3rd party site that tells you what your MMR is." If I wanted to know what my MMR is, what do I do? After I win a low amount of points, or after I lose a lot of points, and vice versa, I want to see why. I don't want to see that I lost more points than I would win. If I can see my MMR, then I can understand how and why I'm earning or losing the points much better. The system would actually make sense. Right now the system doesn't make sense. It doesn't explain exactly why you are gaining or losing points. You just have to take for granted that you and your team's MMR is higher or lower than the enemy team. Maybe the system is broken and they are too lazy to fix it? And showing our MMR would show us exactly how broken the system is.

It's hard to tell an individuals MMR due to being an average of the teams you have played with. It's hard to explain but it was difficult to create as well. Elo was a system for 1v1's. When you make a game with 3v3's and even 5v5's it becomes more complex. but it's safe to assume its based on your winrate/winstreak. if you have 55% winrate and go on a win streak youll get a lot 25 or so lp. if you have 49% winrate but go on a winstreak it would be average 18lp win but perhaps a 20lp loss. This method has worked for me in estimating what my end result would be.

I would like to see what my MMR is even it's a small number below your LP. The 3rd party sites estimate what it is, but it can vary pretty hard.

The exact number of your MMR doesn't really matter from a user standpoint. If you win more LP than you lose then your MMR is higher than your division. If you lose more than you win then your MMR is lower than your division.

I do wish it was visible but that information doesn't really have any practical use.

There is a reason, but you might not agree with it.

Imagine a game where you get +1 max health or +1 damage whenever you kill an enemy. You go all the way through the game constantly getting a tiny tiny bit stronger with every kill.

Now imagine a game where you get 5 xp whenever you kill an enemy, and then you get a bunch of health and damage when you level up. It feels less grindy and more rewarding because you have specific goals that make a big difference when you achieve them.

Ranked works the same way. If you're looking at a number creep up and down by a few points at a time, your victories don't feel as good. Riot hides the number and just gives you LP and divisions separated by promo series because they want you to feel more anticipation and stress during important matches and relax when there's not as much on the line. This provides a better player experience than seeing your MMR go from 1472 to 1464 to 1475.

Again, you may not agree with their reason, but they did have one.
