Orianna support

I recently just got her and have had a couple games in ARAM with her, I've yet to take her mid, but as contested as that spot can be, I feel I can still get some games in with her down in bot lane. I know I can't be as aggressive as a Thresh or maybe as safe as a Morgana, but with how Orianna is, how would you feel if she was your support and what would you expect? Any tips? I tried looking for guides, but there's barely any so just wanna see what some other players might think.

Can definitely work - my friend and I have done it. However, we also have the advantage of instant communication. I can say, "I'm going in" and my Ori will shield me as I am going in for a trade, instead of having to react to a trade.

But if you had communication or at least a good "vibe" with the support (sometimes I really click with my pub normal teammates), Ori can work.

Depending on the lane comp, you have one of 2 jobs, outside of the normal warding and vision stuff. Either you harass by Q-ing constantly whenever the move to last hit. Or you have Protect mode, and you keep your ball on your ally. Not only does it shield and speed boost but it passively increases their defenses.

Sounds like a good set up to me. And her ult can make for some great plays if you go in at 6.

My friend and I went Yasuo/Orianna bot. It worked like a dream.

She has gotten awesome cc, a shield she can give to a teammate. And her ult can help especially in team fights. I do remember using her as a support when her TPA (?) it's was the one team skin she got and use her quite frequently during that time. She works well but need communication!

The problem with Orianna support is mainly that she is an inferior Sona. Her poke is weaker, her sustain/shields are weaker and her speed up is more limited with her ult being harder to land and not anymore effective than a Crescendo. The reason you take Orianna is so you can combo wombo with someone like Malphite, which doesn't help much during the laning phase. Ori is still a great pick, but you should take her mid and let a stronger support-orientated champion help feed your AD carry.

The main issue I have had with her as support is her mana cost. Maybe its just the way I play her but she eats mana for breakfast. She is an awesome support though, i love playing her bot and mid.
