Baron when way ahead.

Tonight I was playing a game and my internet cut out on me. I felt horrible and figured that the game was probably another loss due to the stage we were at when I disconnected. Much to my surprise, I came back to this: http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1571067523/35608338 I saw the victory and could only think one thing: "they must have done Baron and died as a result" I don't know why, but it seems that people in this bronze and silver bracket seem to thing that getting Baron is the one thing they need to be able to close out a game in which they are ridiculously ahead. Please stop this people. If you are already way ahead of the enemy team, Baron gives you a minimal relative advantage at a ridiculously high risk. This team went from a 5 thousand gold lead 5v4 to the loss of the game in literally one minute. Think about what you gain and what you risk when you do things, fellow low MMR kinfolk. I promise it is a huge step towards improving your success in LoL.

The baron buff is an insane boost to a team 5v5, but it does not make a 4v5 viable, or a splitpush teamcomp vs a teamfight comp a wise fight.

I like sneaky duoing Baron while 3 other members of my team are on the field

I will only argue that sometimes baron is a good way to get the enemy team to try and challenge you for it. But if you lose that taunt...well...gg...

most people end up getting caught out and dying after baron anyways. they assume they're invincible and go splitpush and get 5 manned while they're alone. what a worthless objective. just kill towers people.

Actually If you look at the stats and the information given by the match history you can see that nobody died AT ALL near baron, it was never contested and only take once by the purple team. In fact the reason they won was a particularly good team fight around the southeast river near mid lane@46:00 (2 mins or so after Baron buff wore off on Purple team) where they traded 4 for 2 in a 4v4 (Jinx was caught out by Yasuo and then Amumu got caught out shortly after and then Zed traded his life for Yasuo and then Trynd steamrolled the other team where only Jinx escaped) this meant that Jinx was all alone with her team at 50s+ death timers which lead to a desperation play by Jinx which she lost (probably due to the CC of Leona and then FED and FARMED Tryndamere) the two then destroyed the two turrets and let the minions kill the nexus/ fended the purple team while supers killed the nexus.

Beside that your point is correct, that Baron isn't necessary to win the game, because it's a trap for teams that are ahead because it makes it a 6v5 (5+Baron Vs 5) where they have a lower chance of beating the team instead of a straight 5v5 teamfight.

THAT BEING SAID there is something that can be learnt from this game, which is NEVER GET CAUGHT OUT. the reason that you won that game is because Jinx was pushing out bot alone and got caught out by Yasuo. This lead to a pseudo 4v4 where purple team was caught out right after he (possibly his team) killed dragon. Another thing to note, is that your team out warded the other team by 15 excluding your wards. The wards helped your team to catch out the Purple team and then force a messy team fight where your team came out on top.

TL;DR Don't do baron unless necessary, don't get caught out, buy, place, kill tons of wards.

But what do I know? I'm only a silver player that barely made gold an hour before the deadline.

Are you talking about bronze and silver? then stop talking cauz it does not matter. They can hardly make any decisions or follow any decisions.

I have to tell you I will surely take baron if I have a huge lead, that would barely lead to my downfall but only makes it a more certain win.

Ofc, my teammates have to listen to me. That is why it does not work in bronze/silver, they are the worst soldiers, never be able to follow an order.
