ADC - "Support, why don't you heal me more?" Me - "because I don't have heals other then my summoner spell. I have a shield... If you'd like more heals buy a health pot." ADC - "Support why do you keep KSing me?" Me - "I've gotten 2 kills this entire game, with 20 assists. I am not KSing you. " ADC - "Support why did I die? you were suppose to save me!" Me - "I am a support, not a miracle worker. ADC - "You KS'd me again!!!!" Me - "you left...not only did you leave, but you didn't even ignite him, Of course I'm going to take the kill if I can!"
ADC - "You should learn your position and place!" Me - "Your right, I'm going to heal and help the rest of the team, and once you understand my importance, then I will help you again."
As a support, your best metric on how well your doing, is who the enemy team prioritizes during a team fight. If your taking 5 ults as a support, you know your doing something right. The enemy team knows your the biggest threat to them winning! ;)
There is a video for another MOBA titled. "Witch Doctor loses his patients" which best describes the emotions of playing a support. Lately the line: "Mr. Void, I prescribe to you a pair of balls" Is becoming pathetically accurate.

well that is certainly one reason why people dont want to support but the real reason is that in lower elos the support gets blamed for alot of the mistakes the team makes even if none of them were directly the supports fault.

JUNGLER #1!!!! reason: Junglers stratagie mixed with team effort makes or brakes a game with gank's and dragon/baron objectives!
ADC/MARKSMAN #2 reason: HIGHEST DAMAGE OUTPUT!
SUPPORT #3 Reason: earlygame protects ADC allowing them to get to the level they need to carry. Late game helps everyone in teamfights saving the members who are low on HP or CCing the enimie team.
MIDLANE #4 reason: Midlane is the frontlines and ware most the fighting is, keeeping your towers alive in mid gives you more ground advantage in teamfights and more map safty when pushing.
TOPLANE #5 Reason: without a strong 1V1 champ it is very difficult to split objectives and adds sustain in teamfights.
That said, NO ONE DESERVES TO GET LEFT BEHIND!!!! unless you know it will just get you both kill and feed, ALLWAYS help your teammates!!!!!

Supporting at low elo is hell, they never get the credit they deserve that is why they don't support.
The reasons why people don't like to support are pretty simple:
- Limited playstyles and build itematizations (the primary concept arround supports is still build arround CDR>MANA REG>HP)
- Vision controle is still build arround the support (especially in low elo this is problematic)
- Not all roles and playstyles are supported in the support position
- Riot is one of the first game that gives support a more active responsibility and their still blank in that aspect
- With all these limited options that skillcap is pretty high and it wouldn't decrease in this active supportive playstyle
Their is still low interaction between all playstyles mostly when it comes to itematisation. The recent released supports 
& both showed a playstyle that wasn't promoted before. This said whe still have a long way to go:

- Support / Mage -
- Mage / Support -

It feels like depite all these new playstyle whe still have a limited acces to certain playstyle. The thing that I still miss on supports is the situation when your team lacks on magic damage. Than builds like:
- Spellvamp builds: Whe all known spellvamp can work as a form off sustain (think about )
- Mpen builds: Think about
Could be intressting on certain poke style supports. But right now it's all build arround healing: & I seriously doubt they can cover the lack off magic damage in their kit.
This is complete bullshit. Stop being assholes to supports otherwise you'll be seeing a lot less help from all of us.
