Ok, so I have 4 weekly chests saved up, and I have 1 key, can I open one of the chests, or do I have to wait until I have 4 keys? What's the deal with this? I don't see an option anywhere to open the chests, and I don't have any chests available in my inventory. I've had these 4 chests for about a month now, so I've missed out on another 4...any help would be greatly appreciated!

The "4 chests" are just slots that you can earn a chest from, you don't actually have that chest yet.
To earn a chest from the (up to) 4 available, you or a premade ally must earn an S-/S/S+ Mastery grade in a mode that grants you Mastery. You earn the chest for the champion you are playing, and you can only get 1 chest per champion per season. You can see which champions you've earned chests on by looking at them in your Champion page in your profile (they'll have a gold border, and have a chest icon when you mouse over them).
