I am relatively new to the game and I have found that the Champion I like to play as the most is Riven. A lot of people give me crap for playing her, unfortunately. I have found that there are a lot of hostile people on a game that seems like a lot of fun.
It's not fun to play against, or at least i hate to face a Riven, if she kills you once, only once, you gonna be her bitch for the rest of the game.
You can't catch her for crazy mobility, have a Dash that generates a Shield and a AoE Stun dealing TONS OF DAMAGE...
And normally Riven players are jerks, not all of them of course, but the makority i have encountered are jerks.
I guess my thing is that people are assholes when they see me play her. Like every game. You can go through my match history and see that I don't always do great. More often than not I go negative. But I have "studied" her, you could say, to see how to build and play her. From what I've seen in different guides, it takes a lot of skill to play her. And if you play her right then you can dominate
She is a very snowbally non-meta pick. This isn't non-meta in non-common. This is non-meta in that she does not fill any of the roles standard team comps want... or at least, not in a traditional way. If you fall behind you're useless. If you get ahead, you faceroll over your opponent (more than likely). Also, people playing riven tend to talk a ton of shit when they get ahead.... and blame people, IE: talk a lot of shit, when they get behind. Best explanation of what people have come to expect when encountering Riven players is this.
Riven is generally disliked because she's one of those champions that combines 'easy to do okay with' with 'annoying to lane against.' She doesn't have any significant cooldowns, she has no resource to manage, and she combines high damage with fair crowd control and good mobility. This makes her incredibly frustrating for people who play against her in lane because her resourceless nature, forgiving cooldowns, and high damage output make her very hard to trade damage with (even if she whiffs her whole combo her cooldowns will be up before yours do and unlike most people she uses no mana) but her good mobility also means she can easily escape bad situations before she gets killed.
That's why she's so hated.
well there is a variety of reasons, one being she has no resource and she has pretty good mobility and damage output, another being that alot of riven mains are notorious for being extremely toxic. those are just the two main reasons but im sure there are others
