If you can land Rupture on those ganks, then it's perfectly viable. His ult scales well with Cinderhulk, too.
With his passive and AoE kit, he manages to clear well. He also tends to get enough gold to build well enough (and makes great use of Cinderhulk!). His ganks, however, tend to be less-than-stellar, as he has no way to gap-close.
I play a bit of jungle cho. His clears are very easy, and he is a very viable tank jungler, but usually it's best to simply build full tank. I forget about RoAges, and just buy righteous glory, thornmail, and the works, and usually an abyssal scepter so that I have some damage. His ganks bot lane are pretty good because it's much easier to land your Q when you have two targets; however I max the silence first so that I can at least do something in mid lane and silence the enemy mid laner, which is often an assassin. His ult dealing 1000 damage to dragon and baron is also HUGE because your ult essentially becomes the strongest smite in the game until level 18, so objective control is certainly there. Between his silence, the occasional Q, the pure potential burst of his ult, and the extra cinderhulk and thornmail damage, he ends up doing really well for himself and can engage pretty smoothly with a well timed righteous glory active and a Q.
