Normal Games Matchmaking

I decided to play a normal game to see how Garen is right now, I won lane, did my job in teamfights and did my best to win. But it was simply impossible. We lost after 40 minutes, the game was practically a 4v5, our team had a lvl 20 player(All the other players were level 30, around silver and gold rank), I know that normal games are well... normal, but I am pretty competitive and would like to know to what extent the MMR and level factor can be bent.

Normal elo and ranked elo are separate. a challenger player can have bronze v normal elo because he doesn't play/trolls every game. Most people use normals to try funny builds or learn champions so they usually lose tanking their normal mmr. Doesn't mean they're bad when they play ranked.
