Perhaps I am just extremely toxic, but I'm quite tired of being chat restricted.

I do my best not to lash out on others when I am having a bad game or when others are having a bad game, but I can't lie and say it hasn't happened.

I have never been rank restricted before, but I have been chat restricted in the past.

More recently, I played a ranked game with a friend. We were both having great games. We finished 22-9 and 16-9. We had a J4 top and a Blitzcrank support. We had a very strong lead 20 minutes into the game. We were trying to end at this point. Now our Blitz was being quite careless at times, but no one harassed him. We just asked him to stop running into their team without us.

By 30 minutes, we had started to throw the game quite heavily. The J4 and blitz had began to talk shit to each other. We tried to mitigate the trash talk (told them to mute each other, told them to stop talking and just play, etc), but that didn't work. At this point our J4 had said that it was his second account, so he didn't care if we lost and he just started to troll. He refused to group with his team, would split push, die, and repeat. And so blitz started to troll as well and would pull in their main engager or he would just run into their team and die.

That said, I became extremely frustrated and lost my cool with them. Proceeded to get chat banned for 30 games and rank restricted for 10...what I'd like to know is why riot puts so much emphasis on the fact that people that grief and troll get banned just as much as those that are toxic - these two can continue to play ranked games as per their recent games.

And I think the worst part about all of this is, is that in the post game chat, when you ask the enemy team to report them for you know, letting you win the fucking game, they sit there and say "but he wasn't doing that", or "nah, he just helped us win". It's like people want to condone this kind of behaviour.

Griefing ruins people's games and possibly their day. Trolling ruins people's games and possibly their day. Toxicity ruins people's games and possibly their day. That said, people who are particularly susceptible to things that are often said by toxic players can ruin their mood for much longer than a day.

Riot wants to promote a nice, respectful environment where sportsmanlike conduct is adhered to. This is the internet, so it's going to be an uphill battle for Riot from now until when they stop being a company, however it is the thought that counts and they plan to act upon it.

Here's a little comic I believe is applicable.
