Whenever you want to give up:

We were called try-hards when the enemy destroyed one of our base turret. Told to give up when they had our inhibs, and even still they were impatient as they were fought off from destroying our nexus. -- they has the lead the entire 48 minute game. And we won.

We never voted to surrender. not when our top lane dc'd 2 minutes in (ended coming back ~10 minutes later) or we lost all lanes, barely any dragon kills. -- this isn't as uncommon as you'd think. this is determination.

My opinion on this is simple: Whether to surrender or not doesn't depend on whether or not you're losing and behind at the moment, but it depends on your teammates attitudes. If you're incredibly behind but your teammates are all extremely chill and everyone's joking around and having fun, there is absolutely no reason to surrender.

If your team is filled with flamers, or 2 people are having a massive argument and it's no longer fun for those involved that's when you surrender. As long as you're having fun, don't surrender. But even if you spend 50+ minutes on a game massively behind and win in the end, if your team was being toxic for 80% of the game you're not going to find it enjoyable, and thus a surrender would have been better.

I don't surrender because i think the game is unwinnable. I surrender because i simply don't want to play anymore, either we have a feeder which makes the game a pain to play even if you are fed, my teammates thrash talk and flame, or because it simply isn't fun to recover and turtle out till all the advantages enemy team has run out

The chances of 1 out of a few thousands to millions really isn't worth pouring that much heart into.

While it's cool to try, and there is nothing wrong in going hardcore to try do the near impossible but that's not a thing for everybody, might as well surrender when the gap is THAT big and start anew.

Strategic retreat and learning when to give up is no sin imo.

Either way, GJ OP.

Op, 2015~

I'm all for that determination shit but friendly reminder to be realistic about what you can or can't win.

while this is true u can win 2 games in the amount of time it took to win one

AetherKingdom1/31/2015, 8:49:05 PM2 votes

That's not determination. That's the enemy team dicking around for so long that you win.

Yes, as the game goes on, regardless of how much money and how ahead the winning team is, the losing can always catch up in items.

Yes, as the game goes on, the winning team gives the losing team a chance at turning the game around, the odds increasing as time goes on and the losing team gets closer to full build.

With both of these in mind, it makes sense that in a ranked game, you would never give up and play it out until the enemy destroys your nexus. However, in a normal, if I'm not having fun I'd like to move on to the next game or just stop playing, so I'd like the current game to end.

I'd say this kind of game happens once every 30-35 would-be losses. At best.

I say save yourself the frustration and move on to a winnable scenario.

It was a normal game though so...?

Maybe the other team wasn't trying. I know I lost a match we could have easily won but I wanted to get max items and practice all stages of the Champion. It was a normal game so whatever. It is there for a learning experience more than anything else.

Just had a ranked game where ppl were voting surr... Never surrender, it only sets your loss into stone. Anything can happen.

I mean, of course there are times where a surrender is necessary, but most of the time people surrender way too fast.

:)

At least you started catching up in gold :P

Nice comeback though. Mine (2 days ago) took forever (1:14) and was mostly due to a ridiculously fed opposing top laner and our mid laner dc'ing until level 6 (and our top laner dc'ing for a few minutes twice after the 55min mark).

EDIT: I keep adding an attachment picture of the gold summary but it's not showing up...

Felvyne1/31/2015, 9:18:39 PM1 votes

The other day happened something similar to me. First emplacement game, in champion select nobody wanted to adc. Well, I was in a good mood, so I take it.

Bad idea. Really bad idea. Corki got three kills or four in lane and starts roaming, killing the jungler... 11/0 at minute 15, oneshooting everybody he saw. They where 10k of gold at the mark of 20-25 mins. We stalled, played together, catching the other team out of position, getting ahead of their missplays. We ended winning at the game at the 50minutes. Was hard as hell, but oh god, what a pleasure of game that I really enjoyed. Sweet victory, these comebacks are the best.

take your conclusions by yourself

meatjunjun1/31/2015, 9:51:00 PM1 votes

This is pretty uncommon, dude. You'd probably get this type of come-back maybe 1 of 10 tries. 10% chance is not COMMON. Stop holding the people that want to quit hostage.

BakedLotion1/31/2015, 2:30:45 PM1 votes

If it was a normal, i would've just ffed. so much work for nothing lol
