Gaming laptop for college and league of legends.

I was wondering if I can get help on finding a laptop for college/league of legends. I'm not great at understanding computers stuff so, I always tend to find it difficult on choosing which is the best laptop for me?

Price range: $400-$700 Battery life: 6-8hrs Portability: High (laptop under 5lbs) Screen size: 13-14 inches Hard drive space: 500GB - 1TB Operating system: Windows 10 (or if you can persuade me that Windows 8 is better)

Please no laptops that look 'flashy' (lights/different colors). Plain ol' nice laptop.

Honestly if you want to just play league almost any laptop in the price range will run it on high settings. Go for an i5 if you want better battery life, 8gb ram max, 1tb hdd is standard but try getting one with 120gb ssd as well for boot time. And that should get you started.

To be honest gaming on a laptop sucks, I have an m14x, and I regret not just pouring more money into my desktop, could of bought 3 980 Tis now an days with how much it cost.

Tldr: any laptop now and days can run league

Some laptops can't. It needs atleast a halfway desent graphics card. My laptop (That i use for games) has a 750M GPU. The link for it is This. Theyve updated it since I bought it back in 2013 (back when they had a 750M inside of it). Alot of laptops can handle it if it has a graphics card. Intel HD Graphics can't run anything. Barely runs minecraft on a medium setting.

My m14x, 5 years old now, still runs it on high with a 555m in it. It now cost 800 so im assuming other laptops with better gpus exist at that price 5 years later. Havent looked at laptops in forever though since i built my desktop.

I can get ~70ish fps on medium-high graphics on a bootcamped Mac Air (notoriously bad for gaming). If you're looking to buy just for league, you can get just about anything (even a potato). Generally though, your biggest worry is getting a laptop with a halfway decent graphics card.

The problem with Macbooks is that he wants one for school as well. Mac OS isnt very reputable for their ability to be compatible for alot of programs.

Yeah that's true, but it really depends on what he's going into.

I'm a STEM major myself, and the standard programs that come with the OS (Pages, Keynote, etc) work just fine for me, but if he's studying Comp Sci, Engineering, Art, etc than obviously a PC is the way to go.

Scratch that, PCs are always the way to go.
