Should it matters that an AFK player is punished, or should it be the LP what we care?

I recently joined in several of ranked games, where despite of various of reasons were stated (namely bad connection, sudden appointment, my-team-too-bad-i-am-done), i (and at least 8 more people had lost for such incidents. Personally, i understand the difficulties that one might encounter, and me myself had suffered through those situations, i do feel their pain. However, what i do not agree with is how those incidents were solved. I do not intend to report any, and tbh i rarely do, for it simply just not worth it. Does it feel good when you apply some more pain onto one's wound of losing a game by frustrating 20-minute-waits and while waiting mostly what you feel is "I'm just a dumb **"? No. What does it do for me seeing others suffer such gloomy thoughts? What i wish to be done, is that instead ( or simply make it additional) of reporting the AFKs and solve nothing, how about Riot Games make that game uncount? We can still report if we feel so, but for heaven sake, does it help us to go up to silver faster? I do believe that Riot Games can do better for us to help .
