The reasons behind the rage over the lore

Summoners, fields of justice and the isntitute are no longer canon, the scandle of the week in this community.

This changes were long predicted by the community, no more judgements,JoJ and riot not giving every champion his own reason to join the league, an whole new direction for the lore. the amout of rage and negative feed back was impressive even for this community.

i think this is beign caused by some factors ( nostalgia, fear of change, or simple personal dislike of the new lore, who we all know it isnt perfect)

but the main reason i see is very simple:

-The simple selfishness and arrogance of the fan base

Online games have an bigger interaction between the Devs and their community, their sugestions and ideas help to shape an ever envolving game, and we have seen many great things that originated from that communication ( the change of jinx skin tone for example, thank the gods)

But the lore is going to be seperated from the game, there is no more summoners, we dont have an saying on it.

One of the most commun complains is ” i dont feel part of the storie”, well you shouldnt, "WE can fix the lore" we dont have to do anything at all

Riot is trying to prepare Runeterra for actal storie telling, they are trying to tell some stories witout having to worrie about an almost omnipotent instituion that can stop time, bring people from the dead on the daily basis and get in the mind of the most powerfull beigns in the universe and use them for human comflicts. I will miss the whole concept and i personaly thinkg they didnt had to erase, but it simply doesnt work anymore for them.

The stories are made BY them for us not the other way around, we dont get to to give any orders or say how riot should handle their charcthers or their universe, do you think George R.R martin is going to make dany and jon happen because an legion of idiotic show lovers want to ? Hell no! neither should riot listen to or raging ranting, (they were realy polite for even answering some questions) isntead of beign excited for some actual changes and development The community is more focused on themselfs than the BIGGER PICTURE, we havent even seen the rest of the shurima lore yet we keep making judgments and saying that is going to suck, even if it does is RIOT stories and lore.

Im not saying Riot is perfect, i think the inclusion of gragas, udry and olaf in frejlord was lazy( might as well create more friends for sejuani) was lazy, but i absolutly love lissandra in every single possible way but i think they at least deserve some support for actualy trying.

We can discuss it, we can praise it, we can criticize it, we can take inspiration out of it. But is not on our hands, all we can do is wait, like we always do, and hope for some good stories and at least try to welcome the changes. thats all.

Yes the lore is and always has been fully in Riot's hands, but no it is not the fault of the player base for this reaction. People have known for a long time that something was coming, but it's been up to the player base to figure out what. My personal hope was that they would start writing in lore conflicts that would be settled with a League match (worlds specifically) and that would change the way things go.

However when they first talk about what is happening they say it all at once, with no prior warning. If anything caused this reaction it was the lack of warning.

Online games have an bigger interaction between the Devs and their community, their sugestions and ideas help to shape an ever envolving game, and we have seen many great things that originated from that communication

So you're saying that by listening to feedback from the player base devs can do a better job. Often the players have good ideas that help the overall game and, by extension, help Riot make more money.

i think the inclusion of gragas, udry and olaf in frejlord was lazy

You think it and, from what I can tell so dose everyone else. About the most positive comments I've seen regarding the "everybody is now from the Freljord" have been "I don't care about lore." So if Riot's Devs wanted to make the game better it might make sense that they listen to criticism and try a different path in the future.

Or they could do what they are doing right now and just repeat the same unpopular decision they made last year but on an even bigger scale.

Your George RR Martin analogy is somewhat flawed. A more accurate analogy would be Dany and Jon ARE happy, when for some reason Mr. Martin decides to rewrite the part where they became happy and instead have Jon stabbed.

Now, an author that actually has gotten away with this sort of thing is Douglas Adams.

And no one I have seen refutes Riot's right to change the lore as they see fit. As you even suggest in your parting words "We can discuss it, we can praise it, we can criticize it..." What you are seeing is the mass amounts of criticism. Go read more of the posts. Many are well reasoned and written. They are criticisms of Riot's decision.
