Free Champ?

So I was checking the other day when my friend gifted me Gentleman Cho'gath so generously (thank you if you are reading this) when I noticed I got Rek'Sai for free as well.

I think Riot gave me it for free but I haven't heard of anyone recieveing free champs lately. I did the "Universe League of Legends" Demacia icon event and recieved the icon. I also did the April Fools event (in which me and my two friends got insanely fooled, good one riot) and recieved that icon as well.

In the "Gifting History" in the Store section it says "From: username" and "To: You" There's nothing else besides the champs/skins/etc. that I have gifted.

I want to note that the two icons in the "Purchase History" in the Store section says "Amount: 0" and "Currency Type: (blank)" It looks the same for Rek'Sai as well. So it was obviously not gifted by a friend.

Just wanted to know if anyone has gotten a free champ lately, or how I got mine. [zombie-brand-mindblown]
