I went 5-5 in ranked placements, got bronze 3 doing good in the games, my friend goes 3-7 doing not super good in the games and got silver V how does that happen?

What were your respective ranks last season?
If he had a higher MMR than you did before the reset, he would have started higher and been matched against players with higher MMR than you were.
Also, all the matters is whether you win or lose the game. KDA, CS, objectives taken, etc have nothing to do with your rank.
