Kassadin Q stops Aurelion's Orbs

Is this supposed to happen? Sol's orbs aren't any kind of channel and Kass' q isn't a cc. Just played a game against a Kass and it caught me by surprise when I saw his Q stop my orbs.

His Q has cc, it's interrupting so basically a silence without duration.

tiny silence. if you pay attention to the champ bar you'll see a silence for a quick secon.
