Perfect ascension icon and the community

This ascension icon seems to have brought out the worst in our community. People brag about deny the otherside their icon. The general idea is they're only playing for the icon and if they can't have it, no one can. The problem is, this happens every single game. Not once in my games has either team qualified for the icon. I tried making agreements not to snipe the icon from the other team. Last game we were winning very hard, but had one bad team fight and the other team raced to steal xerath and deny our icon. I begged them to let us have the perfect win but they just laughed at me.

It made me very sad to see people take such joy in being mean to others. Some of us are working very hard to get that icon.

So let me get this straight. This person is complaining because he just wants to have a perfect game handed to him...he doesn't want to earn it. Perfect Ascension game is just that...you've got to play the perfect game. Getting aced while Xereth is up is not a perfect game.

This is what's wrong with today's people...they want things just given to them...they don't want to EARN them!

This sounds like something I would do... It's not that I'm trying to deny someone the icon, it's just the fact that I think they need to truly earn it. If the team chooses to attack the ascended when there is a chance to steal, and it's stolen, it's largely their fault and they didn't earn it.

I see of it less as denying the enemy of the icon and more making people really earn it. This is kind of the way I feel about Pentakills: I hate respect Pentas, because a real Penta should be earned, and it feels that much more valuable when you do truly earn it.

So if you ask me, the enemy, to essentially gift you the icon, I am going to respectfully say no, because earning it is half the fun. I guess I'm just competitive in that way.

You sure they aren't just trying to win, as is the purpose of the game? Or maybe they still need more wins for the other icons? It seems like you just have a persecution complex.

Not gloating, aiming to help some. When I got my icon I wasn't trying to get it. I was enjoying the game playing it, and it just so happened we had achieved it. Keep trying, but if you try and make agreements, the enemy team might deliberately try and screw you over, so I say just go for it.

I gave that mode 10 games. Not a single game more. Terrible mode, waste of my time. It was even worse than playing URF on the third day of its release. Just snowball champs every game. Disgusting.
