Specifically, the Omega Squad skin

Is anyone else confused about where the ears came from? Not a single representation of Veigar, in any of his skins that I've seen, have displayed his head as anything but an amalgamous blob of darkness, of varying clarity.

Seriously, why ears? Is he going to have ears added to previous/future skins in order to compensate for the discrepancy, or is the Omega Squad version going to be the only one to be able to hear the rest of the team?

he always was a yordle. yordles have pointy ears. just because all his other skins have hats doesn't make him magically not have ears. maybe he's just shy about them and used his hats for cover.
