Permanently banned after playing in 5.18.

Hello Lyte or whoever else this may concern,

I'm not going to lie and say that I didn't post some negative comments on the game that triggered the ban, but the game had some extremely harsh circumstances with EXTREME negativity in it. Please can you check the games history, two players were intentionally feeding on purpose to start and openly admitted to it. The ban was not escalated in any way because of the 5.18 update, as I had no restrictions on it. I was not racist at all, I didn't call anyone any bad names, and I didn't use any hate speech. Yes, I was pessimistic about winning the game and may have somewhat retaliated after someone ELSE began flaming, but not in the sense to deserve a permanent ban.

I do type a lot in league, but I think a permanent ban is extremely harsh in my case. I'm trying so hard to reform, and I apologize profusely for being considered "toxic" by other players. I realize it's not right to retaliate in any way, but this game just put me over the edge.

Is it possible for the suspension to be removed and a chat ban be issued (something like 1000 chats), or a certain day restriction? I understand I need to reform, and I'm trying so hard. I thought with the 5.18 update I would be able to get a chat ban of some sort to help me focus, but I did not expect this.

Riot Lyte previously stated that the accounts histories would be completely wiped in 5.18. This does not excuse my behavior, but I just was HOPING for a chat ban. Even a month ban to cool off, but please not a permanent ban.

Also I WAS IN NO WAY USING CURSE WORDS at anyone in the group. I did and do use derogatory words like "fuck" and "bitch", but they are NEVER directed at people. Riot Lyte also stated:

Players that are intentionally toxic on purpose for the rest of the season because they are ineligible for rewards will be given penalties up to a permanent ban.

I was NOT being intentionally toxic because of lack of ranked rewards. Please, please review this case and make sure the account history was correctly clean slated in 5.18. I WILL reform, I promise you this. Even if I need to take a break from league. The reform card I was sent has a lot of wear words at it which may have triggered the system, but they were NEVER TARGETED AT ANYONE.

I reviewed your case, and the ban should stay. You have quite a few chat logs that aren't OK, even beyond your current Reform Card.

Yo lyte, I asked this on your ask.fm and you didn't answer (and it's relevant). Why even ban people for verbal abuse instead of muting them/taking away their ability to chat? Doesn't that solve the problem equally well without making them quit the game?

Decent evidence for your point, but Lyte doesn't get to make that decision alone.

Riot is also made up of many individual opinions, just like boards. Just because Lyte thinks that people can communicate great with just pings, doesn't mean the rest of Riot does.

To that point, on my personal opinion, pings aren't ALWAYS enough. In some games, pings are enough. If your team isn't trying to do anything fancy, and the game is a pretty typical one, it's no problem. But having no access to chat gives players no way to communicate about higher strategy and atypical situations.

There's no "play more aggressive because Vayne scales so hard. We need to win soon" ping. There's no "get vision around the Baron pit, because we're going to fight over it soon" ping. There's no "I want to play a Sejuani/Malphite bot lane with my duo. Please don't assume we're going Jungle and Top" ping (I mean, this is in champ select, but it's part of the discussion if we're taking away their ability to chat).

You get the idea. I could make this list infinitely long to reinforce the point, but three is plenty for you to decide if you could imagine some of your own communications that really did necessitate words. In my opinion, there's no replacement for this.

I'm sure some people will continue to disagree, and you may be one of them. That's fine. Just know that there are players out there, like me, who silently rage at the people who refuse to talk. In the long run, that will limit their understanding of the game. In the games I'm stuck with them, I can't help that, and I'm stuck losing because someone is too pompous to interact with the team.

That's really completely irrelevant to this conversation, but considering how passionate you are about this, why not make a board or post it on a board about whether pings being enough?

I'm confused. Your post is about why we can't just chat restrict people and call that good enough. The reason is that they need to be able to communicate with the team, and pings aren't enough.

From where I'm sitting, that seems to be completely relevant. Also, I clearly don't need to post in another board, as Riot is already doing what I want; banning toxic players instead of chat banning them and letting them play. I like that the OP was perma-banned. Sounds like he was super toxic, and while that sucks for him, I know that the community gets better when this happens.

Which is why the intentional feeder system was developed, right? Which is why we have a report option for assisting the enemy team that could also use some help, as well.

I mean maybe the population of people that are verbally abusive but nothing else is too small to care about. It'd just be nice to not fear for my account. Thanks for the response man.

If you are fearing for your account, then maybe don't act toxic? It's pretty clear just seeing you on the boards and 99.9% of your responses you are toxic and borderline trolly, so I can't imagine you are any better in game.

Someone linked ur post on my post about perma mute. Us flamers should unite to convince this community that we are not all bad and there are sophisticated reasons to flame and other ways to deal with us rather than just kick us off the game

Well I don't and wouldn't intentionally feed or grief; I consider it far too scummy. I'm just verbally a jackass, and not afraid to admit it.

I sure hope you plan on full mute options soon, because I don't want to be left deranged from a permaban. I can accept a permanent muting, but considering how much time and money I've sunk into LoL, a permaban just for chat would probably drive me into an asylum.

add the full mute to the options for everyone because if i cant tell someone they dont deserve life i shouldnt have to see anything they say at all, and why are people feelings being hurt more important then people causing losing games.

Alright thanks for the response, most of my replies are to gameplay and are never direct verbal attacks like I stated and I'm sure you've seen. I just think a perma ban is extreme overreaction.

It's posted below. It wasn't a permaban by them, but rather a last offense kind of thing I assume by the autimated system. There's no hate speech or anything, no racism, no homophobia etc, but I do type a lot regarding what champs people should play.

I guess the way to go in league is just to not post anything because people get so pissy when playing bad. That's honestly the only thing anyone should take out of this. Don't use the chatbox. Just to be clear, I've never afkd or threatened to afk. I just think Lyte has a precedent to keep, so I'll wait to see the full reasoning with the support ticket they confirmed they're working on for my personal case.

Just a dumb reason to not be able to say "Don't play x champ you suck at them, don't play a champ when you have an x winrate, makes the game harder." etc. Just the truth. Go play normals.

Yea i get where you are coming from. But from my experience the toxic players dont feed or troll, they rage because someone else is trolling/feeding.

Just because this wouldnt fix EVERY rager doesnt mean this shouldnt be at least tested.

Why do you think people get so Salty? Because of feeders and trolls. I personally get really salty whenever someone trolls or feeds intentionally. I cant stop them from feeding unless i play Tahm kench with 40% cooldown. however, Someone can easily mute me and i will still use my pings for team play if he cant hear me. Stop trying to work around it. it is pretty agreeable that you are the weakest branch in Riots Tree. It is time to actually make a Change Lyte.

My question here is, If you were to check all summoners who use the in game chat function, how many would actually have clean chat records? ive noticed the majority of my chat observation is:

1:The People who dont talk at all

2:The Game goes well and you get the Gj/Wp'ers- I consider myself a combination of the 2 latter

3:The flamers and trolls

Ive never had chat ban, and am always the first one to throw a gjgj after a kill, but i honestly feel that league lends itself to anger, confrontation, embarrassment, and in turn, toxic chat, more than any other game around.

your plays are put front and center, for all to see, and people expect results. Just like a job, sport, or any other thing where "performance" is key.

Its like putting people in prison, and expecting them hold ballet lessons in the cafeteria. A hostile, high tension environment, doesnt lend itself to friendly, low tension situations.

I applaud you guys for the work you do in trying to keep this game clean, as its an uphill battle.

You knew that toxic behavior was subject to punishments up to and including permaban.
You knew that you would really, really, really hate to get a permaban.

Half way through is when the intentional feeding begins from two people. I never sweared at anyone, not ever in previous games. But I do swear a lot in general as you can see.

It's not the swearing that is the problem, it's that you are obnoxious towards your teammates throughout this game (and, I assume, many many many others to get a permaban).

One last note: because of the scope of these changes, all chat and ranked restrictions will be reset and past restrictions won’t count against you in the new system. Everyone’s slate is wiped clean (for these restrictions).

I have no idea of the specific circumstances of your game or the logs or anything like that.

However,

If your basic platform is, "Yes I was toxic/said bad things, but I didn't direct them at anyone"

To break it down into the most juvenile form possible: Just because you fart in a car and don't direct it at anyone, doesn't mean that the other people in the car don't have to smell it. Just the fact that you're causing a stink automatically exposes those around you to your unpleasantness. And if you do it repeatedly and deliberately, don't be surprised when your friends kick you out of the car and make you walk home.
