Riot two servers. Please.

No West Coaster wants 80 ping, and Im positive East coasters would be way more happy with 40 ping then 80 as well, this is ridiculous, fuck the "community" make two servers please. At least East Coast has LAN us West Coasters have no other server to proxy too. There is shit in this game you can't do at 80 ping, why are you fucking over every body instead of making two servers, how are you the biggest game in the world and don't have enough people in NA for two servers. I don't get this shit why are you downgrading the West Coast experience instead of, at the very least, giving us an option? Longer queues or Lighter ping. Like I'm really about to cry because I won't be able to play League anymore :'(

Edit: Ping is important, so are wards :) http://www.nerfplz.com/2013/07/correlation-between-wards-ping-and-elo.html

Yeah I think 2 servers would be ideal however until that happens, as an East coast player who successfully made it to Silver on 150-300 ping average game, im pretty excited for a more geographically centered server and a reduction in ping.

I'm happy for you guys I really am, but the way Riot handled East Coast servers does not bode well for the West at all, I'm scared we'll never get servers. As someone who has no means to move for a video game and is getting a huge jump in Ping I might actually quit playing league I can't imagine how you guys put up with it for so long. It's crazy to me in all honesty and I think you guys deserve a lot more then what you're getting

I'd like for Riot to actually fix the issue here instead of fucking over even more people for no reason, I'd also like a legitimate discussion into why two servers would be bad for this game. instead of some asshole commentary about how I'm whining when this change really just shifts the problem around instead of fixing the issues, but go ahead be an asshole. Let's not fix anything.

Did you speak up for the East coast before, or did you just start caring because it's going to affect West coast now?

I have commented on how shitty Riot has treated East Coast players before but i never actively fought for you guys. Then again, aside from minor spurts here and there, neither did you guys. And we have a chance to fix this. Im positive if we all worked together we could get two servers. that would be the dream but we cant do that if we fight each otehr

Alright, fair enough. I was legitimately curious, so I could better judge your opinion.

I'm West Coast, and I'm personally all for the central server change. Honestly, two servers would be nice, but I'm not sure Riot can or would support that.

They most definitely could keep the server they have up right now as NAW and the server they are bringing online tomorrow as NAE at the very least, see how the population fills out and go from there. instead of forcing everyone to the new servers regardless of location and ping.

80 ping isn't that bad. If we got used to that or higher, you can too.

It's incredibly selfish of you to want to split the community and fuck everything up because you yourself want lower ping. Do you understand the implications splitting the community has?

  1. Talent and top level play will funnel into one server. If all LCS pros are on NAW, then all challenger team pros, amateur team pros, and aspiring challenger players will funnel into NAW as well. This has a trickle down effect, and may even affect Diamond 1-2 players. Think EUW and EUNE.

  2. NA doesn't have enough players to split into two. NAE might be okay because we have way more players on the East, but NAW will definitely be really small.

Where are you getting these statics from?

  1. The talent funneling into one server thing can be seen in EUW and EUNE or China and their #1 server Ionia. Talent breeds/attracts more talent. If most LCS teams are playing on NAW, then the rest of the LCS teams will play on NAW because all their scrim partners are there. If all the LCS teams are on NAW, the challenger teams will go to NAW because that's where they can improve against the best. If all the challenger teams are there then all the challenger/master players that want to get scouted have to move to NAW. If all aspiring pro players move to NAW, then the rest of the players will follow as well, etc. etc.

  2. As for the stats for player population and etc. here's a reddit thread analyzing it https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/3g8aku/the_player_numbers_behind_a_na_westna_east_server/

So most of this is based off of conjecture and no real hard evidence. You are assuming that NAW and NAE would end up like EU or China. basing all of your decisions off the pro scene or some random population with no real evidence and telling everyone that they should suffer for these two reasons? Am I understanding this correctly?

City of Toronto4 votes

Your hard evidence is China and EUW and EUNE. I don't know what else you would want. Sure it's conjecture, but it's pretty damn accurate conjecture at that. Throw an apple in China and it will fall to the ground. Throw an apple in Europe and it will fall to the ground. Throw an apple in NA and like the previous two, it will do the same.

So no, you are not understanding this correctly if you think I'm saying everybody should suffer off of "uneducated conjecture".

Unless of course, you would like to suggest that NAW would thrive with a super low player base or that talent WON'T funnel into one server, which I'd very much like to hear your reasons for.

Firstly, even if it does, It'll be the same thing that happens now, anyone that wants to go pro moves to the west coast goes, those that don't wont.

Secondly I don't think anything this big, should be decided by whats best for the pro scene. Which is, if i remember correctly, 1% of the player base, if all the pro's move to one server so be it. If anything having two servers would increase the talent pool in NA. Now everyone has a chance to experience the game at their absolute best. Instead of just shifting which of the player base does and which of them don't, thus constricting talent to the areas with the best ping.

Thirdly, if Riot really wanted to have both servers be competitive, they could always have multiple NACS/Challenger series things done on each coast. Allowing for talent to both develop and be molded in their regions until they are ready for PROLCS play, which is staying in the West AFAIK.

Lastly, we shouldn't suffer for the pro scene, and should be given a choice at the very least. How can many other game companies (Dota 2?) have multiple servers without them devolving into "ermagerhd LCS BAHG PLAISE"

Also both your comments contradict themselves, first you send me a link saying how much bigger, NAE would be then NAW then you say everyone would funnel into NAW, so if that's happening wouldn't shit just even it self out?

On top of all that, aren't EUW and EUNE actually extremely close (I could be wrong on this by all means correct me if im wrong) and there for it's a lot easier to transfer from server to server with lesser ping. The same with China? where as NAE and West would be further apart thus forcing most people to go to their closer server?

Again this is completely from memory and is most likely misinformed

i just think two servers would ruin a lot of things like say you had friends that played on the east coast and you live on the west coast if you want to play with them your pretty much screwed unless one of you wants higher ping. but thats just looking at it on a simple lvl

This will happen no matter what, except now, with one server you don't have a choice. With two servers you can always play with your friends still and then go back to your server when you are playing a lone or want better ping

This would be nice, but if Riot doesn't even want two servers them making 3 doesn't seem likely. WOuld be nice though.

Yeah, just let me pay for the transfer or level up a smurf... No thank you.

Out of curiosity, what kind of ping do you get when you ping the new servers now?

70-80 which is a huge up tick for me playing around mid-low 30's

Also, you can't tell me ping isn't important when the average Silver player has less then 80 ping, and the average Challenger has under 40 ping, it clearly plays a factor.

Edit: Added this to front post

I still don't understand why we can't have two servers :( Riot plz

Quantum Bread1 votes

Tbh if Riot just had three servers one in the west ,mid ,and east coast and stream lined the data between all three on one large network you might not see a huge drop in ping but people would have better quality of service all around the U.S and less dropped packets due to servers able to stream line data from coast to coast most likely in a decrease in packet loss for a big amount of players. BUT as per usual it's up to riot if it is cost worthy to them or not, in all honesty if they want this game to be all on one server and work efficiently and keep this game alive it would be in their best interest in the long run to implement a system like this :/ .
