Ranked AFK/DC

Why is it that when you play a ranked game and have one or more people disconnect from the game you still lose the same amount of LP, The person who disconnected didn't lose that LP he/she only lost 5, how is this fair, I feel we need a new system for this, it would make the escape from bronze/silver a lot easier, thank you for your time.
