So I live in Spokane Washington and have been wanting to go to Pax for several years and the tickets always seem to sell out before I can try to buy one. This year has been no different and I am rather frustrated.
As for the purpose of this post I am now asking the community what is the best way to be informed of PAX tickets and is there anyway to get tickets once PAX says they are sold out?
Following their Twitter looks to be the best method. Last year their Tweet went out about 15 minutes after tickets went up - but people could still get badges. This year the tweet went out about a minute before the sale started.
I personally had a page monitor on the prime registration site to notify me of a change. I was able to get day passes for every day, but despite being in queue within a minute, 4-day badges were gone.
If you want to take a gamble, go to PAX anyhow. There are people selling badges outside every day - and often at face value. (Plans changed and a friend couldn't go. Or they bought an extra in case a friend missed the sale, but nobody did.) Monday has a LOT of people selling badges outside because people get tired after three days of PAX. There are also places where you can find people selling extra badges (at face value) online in advance of the event. I can't think of any off the top of my head though...

PAX has an official twitter account where they'll announce that tickets will be going on sale. I'm not sure if they did it for this year, but in recent years past (East + Prime this past year) they announce the day before that the tickets will be going on sale "sometime tomorrow".
The first announcement that they're on sale seems to always be made on the twitter account, and you can set up notifications on your phone to let you know when they tweet. That's how I've always done it in the past and have pretty consistently been able to get into the queue in under 5 minutes.
Once tickets are sold out, they're pretty much gone unless they find people were able to get through the queue multiple times and order 8+ badges each time (as that's a huge red flag for ticket scalping).

They are already sold out. Sold out last week in an hour. To get them you pretty much have to check the site on a daily basis from 8:00am-11:00am every weekday after the conclusion of pax east, and follow their twitter account. The tickets go on sale during May sometime after pax east. They do not announce a day or a time. The ticket will just go on sale one morning. If you are lucky or patient, you will score some tickets.
The other option, if you are a developer you can sign up for PaxDev, and also purchase a 4-day Pax Prime pass at the same time. This way will run about $400.00. You must provide proof you are a developer when you pick up your tickets.
Trying to get PAX tickets is a horrible experience. Four-day passes sell out within minutes, day passes within a few hours. PAX intentionally does not announce ticket sales ahead of time as they believe it cuts down on scalping.
The best way is to follow their Twitter and set up to receive notifications when they tweet. They'll announce within a few minutes of putting the ticket sales up, so just be ready. They usually go on sale on a weekday morning in May.
However, this year's are sold out. So now the only way to get one is secondhand. The most reliable way to is see if someone you know bought extra. You can also try Craigslist or eBay, but those are always kind of sketchy. Keep in mind that badges haven't been sent out yet, so anyone claiming to have it on hand already is a scam artist.
In the future, try to find a group of people who are also interested in going and have everyone keep watch. That way at least some should be able to buy tickets and hopefully get enough to cover everyone who wants to go.
