Why i am having trouble getting back into LOL.

To Riot,

I stopped playing league back in November. Picked up the game a couple weeks back, and i am trying to get excited about it again. I am finding it increasingly hard to do this, for the same reason i quit last year. The games are not fun when they are a rout, either way. I love to win, but i don't mind losing. I just want my games (not even all, but a good amount more than once in a blue moon) to give me a fair chance past 10 minutes to win (or lose).

Please balance games so that they at least feel close, much longer into the game.

Thanks.

Sounds like you'd enjoy Heroes of the Storm.

I am just asking for closer games. I am sure there are others who want this, too.

A lot of people don't understand something about "balance" in league of legends. Your problem, since you're such low level probably comes down to a couple of things:

  1. Smurfs. Smurfs (more experiences players that just like to faceroll low level players) are very common, and on the rise. It's a challenge to find a match where you're with all players of your skill level. They are good and bad. They're bad because they make the game less fun. If you have one guy that just curb stomps the entire team and ends the game while they have to watch painfully from the spawn area as they take your towers for free is not fun. However, at low numbers, they can encourage better playing habits. For instance, you see a Smurf that doesn't kill you, but farms so much better that it leads to kills. This could lead you to think "maybe the gold and xp I get from the minions is more important than I thought."

  2. Unskilled players. Unskilled players that don't know how to capitalize on an advantage that they have usually lead to frustrating shifts in team power. The tables can turn very quickly in this game. Most of the people at your level (you included, I would presume) need to get better at the game. It's a little hard when you don't have access to runes and mastries (please, don't buy runes until you're level 20. Tier 1 and 2 runes aren't worth it because you can't reliably use them to get the specific tier 3 runes that you will need at level 20). Not to mention it can be frustrating when you're doing fine, but another lane feeds, so that lane comes for you and ruins your good game. Trust me, even in bronze tier when you hit level 30, this doesn't go away. They invented the therm "ELO Hell" to describe Bronze Tier for a reason.

  3. This could come from bad champion selections. I can't count the number of times someone has just picked up a champion that looks op when the pros use it, but when they do it, they always lose. Some champions like Hiemerdinger and Jinx don't always instantly click with a new player. After watching a pro go 20-0-4 with Jinx, easily cleaning up stragglers after a team fight, Jinx looks overpowered, but that's just because that person has been playing Jinx for a long time and they know a lot about her, such as when toggle her q on or off, when to use her flame chompers, when and how to use her zap ability, and judge how much her ultimate can do, and what her chances of hitting a distant enemy with it are.

Perhaps you could tell me what kind of champions you're playing, and a few more specifics about your matches. Just you see, I'll show you that this game is balanced and is still worth playing yet.

I have had afks in around 30% of my games these past two weeks. Stomp when the enemy has an afk, be stomped when i have an afk. Similar effects when you count the extremely unskilled or trolls. There is such a huge disparity between teams that games are not fun.

I would like to at least feel like i control the outcome of the game more than now. This is by far the best way of me improving at the game as well.

Edit: Perhaps using the word balance was a bad idea. Riot needs to bridge the skill gap between teams.

Play ranked games. They match up the teams a good bit more evenly than normals do. I feel like almost every game I still have a chance to win even at around 25 minutes in.

Oh and absolutely do not play 3v3. It is almost always decided in like 7 minutes or so and it's way too hard to ever come back.
