How come Rioters have time to respond to Memes & Games threads..

..and not actual issues with the game? It's really pathetic and quite infuriating. Even threads with 200+ upvotes get totally neglected, yet a pun about Syndra with 12 upvotes gets rioter comments? What's even the point of rioters on the boards anymore? But I know they won't respond to this, as always..

Hey karma or feed!

We have Rioters in various areas of expertise. I'll use myself as an example for this.

I'm a part of the skins team, so my knowledge is heavily grounded around the creation/development of skins. I'm most likely to post in 'Skins & Champion Concepts', 'Story & Art' or 'Report a Bug' (when bugs are skins-related) because these are the conversations I can offer the most in when it comes to informing, answering questions, or discussing player concepts for new skins. That said, I wouldn't personally hop in threads on 'Gameplay & Balance' because I don't know too much about why changes are being made, or even how to balance a champion.

Some Rioters work on things not directly to the game - maybe they work in accounting (Not Steve, though. I mean, that's definitely not Blitzcrank), or an area of Riot where most board subjects don't make sense for them to post in. They're still making an effort to engage with the community where possible, even if that means jumping in a 'Memes & Games' thread. That said, we're players just like you, and sometimes, we just want to have fun (especially on the weekend)!

I can understand why you're frustrated, especially when there are issues at hand.

That said, the boards are growing, which means it's becoming a lot more difficult to respond to every board post. If you don't get a personal response, don't take it, well, personally. Several groups at Riot cruise the boards several times a day to see what's going on - especially in the Report a Bug section. While you may not see a response to every thread, we do read them all, and the issues are looked into. In cases where there may be a serious exploit, you may not see a Red post on the issue for two reasons - a. we're trying to resolve the issue ASAP, and b. we don't want to get more visibility on the subject by having the post end up in the Red Tracker.

I agree that there are issues still occurring in the game, some serious enough that it prevents players from patching. Let's talk about the portion of players who couldn't patch Patch 5.13. dArtagnan created a post in 'Help & Support' with some troubleshooting tips when it came to trying to resolve the issue. Rioters, as well as the Wrenchmen also offered additional support in the comments, if players were still having issues.

Is it even possible that the Rioters like the game so much they peruse the boards for fun stuff when they're NOT working?

One could argue that they should use an alternate account for that, but I'm sure there are reasons to support using their Riot account as well.

It is a lot easier for them to comment on memes then it is game balance/features as they don't want to give incorrect information sometimes the person is not in balance but in skin design so can't comment and even more important they don't want to promise/give the impression of a promise on a balance or game play issue.

I think they don't want to get themselves into trouble commenting on stuff about the game. they would have to be very careful what they write or people will quote them and use it against them.

Because all Rioters appreciate the culture of League, so they all are able to respond to such threads. Only certain Rioters have the authority to speak on balance, esports etc.

Also, some highly upvoted threads are outright circlejerks. Hell I made one a while ago joking about Riot getting ready to gut Karthus because he destroyed Zed in an LCS match that day, it got hundreds of upvotes and comments within hours. You don't see many of them today because balance is pretty healthy right now, but early season 5 where big changes introduced huge balance problems, there were constant threads accusing Riot of intentionally leaving Zed LeeSin Vi etc. intentionally overpowered for LC$BIGPLAY$, even though that was not the case, the current itemization and jungle changes just happened to make certain champs far more powerful than the others, that was rectified later on.

Working on games isn't all fun and games. They have workloads and deadlines just like any other job. So it nice to be able to do something fun and distracting during the day. I feel that they answer a fair number of threads throughout the forums.
