Why choose to be offended?

Offence can never be given, only taken. No matter what anyone says, you decide if you get offended,so stop. Not saying let them get away with it. Just stop letting what others say or do dictate how you react to it. The only way to get rid of the "Bad" community is for everyone to do this. I'll start, Go on offend me, if you can.

People come from different walks of life, and are taught or learn to deal with situations differently as such. Don't expect people to deal with your shit just because you grew a thick skin and think everyone else should be the same. Some have dealt with nice, sincere people their entire lives, and suddenly having some jackass throwing insults at them is harmful.

You'd probably want to respond with 'welcome to the real world.' but the fact is, their world was real before you entered it; yours was non-existent.

That's just a single possibility for someone, the variations are uncountable. I can't really think of a way to simplify this for everyone to understand; it may not even be possible.

Being offended is not always a choice we can make. Yes it is a choice, however it's not always a choice on a level we have control over. Our minds don't always ask for permission before making a decision after all.

no. people get offended by certain things. that's life, and it happens. there's nothing wrong with it. the only bad thing is when they respond in a toxic manner. it's anger. there's nothing wrong with anger, only the way you choose to express it.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, to assume is to make an ass out of u and me. It looks like you believe that I am flaming ingame and have created this thread to vent about being chat restricted or banned. If so that's not the case. It's about the people who get one bad comment said to them and let it affect how they play. The people "Trolling" will continue trolling regardless of bans or restrictions, they just simply make new accounts, or already have multiple ones to do so. Only way to kill a troll is to starve it. Hence you don't give them what they want. Unless your response has some actual insight this will be my last response to you kind person.

See, your right in a way ..but you are wrong in another big way. I could go into the point that Riot is starting to get the trolls, flamers and just plain nasty people out and that is why we are getting so many complaint threads...or I can point out that there is a difference between people being sensitive as some might put it and others who troll to piss people off.

If Riot steps up and continues on what path I believe they are on then the new troll accounts will get punished and perma-ed very quick after that then people can decide to play within Riots rules or continue to get banned...what this will do is attract new people to the game that have fun and spend $ and this is what a business is about.

[Put a bad "your mom" joke here]

That should do the trick!

A bit more seriously, though, I agree. It's your choice to be offended, it's your choice to get angry. Sure, there are cases where some (extreme?) things shouldn't be said, but there's only a handful of them.

Over the years of playing this game, I've seen people get buttmad about things, that are a part of human's life since the invention of the wheel, that they are in 99.(9)% of cases familiar with and come across them daily (unless you live in a basement). Shop, school, home, street, ice cream stand, you name it. For some reason they come home, start LoL and get angry at even the slightest annoyance they see.

Here I am sitting wondering why I got chat restricted ~3 months ago for pointing out a dude who instalocked mid lane and went 0/5.

Why choose to get chat restricted or banned? No matter what anyone says, you decide if you get chat restricted, so stop. Not saying not to think people are trash. Just stop letting what others say or do dictate how you react to it. The only way to get rid of the "Bad" community is for everyone to do this. I'll start, go on, get me to flame you if you can.

I for one hope you are right.

You seem to be stand up person, it's hard sometimes to determine what is right and wrong but all we can do is 'talk' to each other and help form the community the way we believe is right.

You can't train yourself to not be offended. You can train yourself to not act upon that feeling, and to ignore it, but you're lying to yourself if you think something that should offend you does not.

That's the key here I think. You actually have to be told something that offends you. You being told you're bad does not offend you, and so that doesn't count as an example.

You don't get to choose what offends you, you simply get to choose how you respond to it.

Yep, I wish I could have said this ^^ I agree.

That is remarkably naive...
