Riot Is Fucking Stupid for Their Toxicity Bans

So today my good friend was perma-banned. No he was not cheating or feeding or griefing at all. The first ban was Riot's personal fault, my friend was banned because of charge back in which he bought RP/used RP but nothing was taken from his account and Riot took action to this case. After he tried to fix it they gave him the wrong email address to send the money to so that took a lot longer too un-ban his account. After he got on he played maybe a week and when I talk to him again he told me he was banned for possible toxicity in which he is but here is my full argument. Why is toxicity considered a ban-able punishment? I know it is a T-rated game but there is a chat filter for a reason. All the statistics they put in the pregame loading screen are completely bullshit. Toxicity is something that has no effect on your game or skill of game. There are mute buttons for teammates for a reason just in case you do not want to hear a teammate talk anymore. There is a goddamn chat filter for a fucking reason. He spent over $1ooo in all on this game and Riot does this bullshit ban? Many of you may not agree with me because you are for the toxicity reduction but I am for one not at all supportive of it. No I am not an asshole the whole time I actually try to help people and boost their spirits but we can't call that one prick on our team a bastard for feeding? Riot needs to rethink their ban system and toxicity rules because their bullshit "If you are toxic to to your team you lose 99% of your games" bullshit is not fooling anyone. So this is my post because of the situation that Riot has put my friend in. They have just lost another extremely loyal player and I have seen many more follow in suit in the past. Hopefully this won't get hate I am just posting my honest opinion and my reason for dislike of Riot so far into my League "career". Hopefully you all have a nice day!

I'm a salty player, but I always try to "match" the saltiness of others. I do kinda get what the OP is saying here. Rather than banning a person from chat to completely eliminate the problem, they perma-ban people and steal all the money they've spent on the game. In other words, Riot has made a LOT of money off of salty people.

Professional athletes spew hate all the time. Especially football and basketball. It's called "taunting" and it's a tactic that works. But, riot wants to cater to "kids" and I try to remember that. That said, "kids" have learned how to "taunt" or "troll" in a way that circumvents the rules. They see someone who isn't having a good time and they "test" them and get in their head, then when they finally explode, they report them. The fact that the tribunal is a jury including these same "kids" is kinda wrong.

There should be a ban on people who use passive aggression to troll people's "salt" out of them. Do THAT, and you might see this game's aggression go down. In my experience, it's not the salty people who are the problem, it's the trolls who egg them on.

We consider the "Mute" feature to be a last resort. When a player has to use the "Mute" feature, the damage has already been done. Your experience is already worse, you are already less likely to play another game, and you already don't enjoy League as much as before. The "Mute" feature is a last resort to prevent any further harassment or abuse. Just because a feature like this exists doesn't mean it's OK for players to spew hate speech or be racist or verbally abusive. The vast majority of players in League hate these types of behaviors, and we should respect these players and not tell toxic players it's OK to be dicks just because a "Mute" feature exists.

you are completely right the tribunal system is a joke. With all these bans and chat restrictions you would think riots community would be the better then most games huh? Nah its probably the worst community I have seen even after all the tribunal bullshit. If they ban an account whoever got banned can just start another right back up and continue to be toxic, and it could just keep going on and on and on in the end they never learn their lesson. Also mute is a last resort yeah right that's the dumbest thing someone here has said if you have someone being toxic simply hit tab and 1 little button and look there! No more mean things being said. I mean its unreal you say 1 negative thing a kid crys to his mom and reports you hows that teaching anyone anything. Theres no report button in real life is there? So man the fuck up lifes a bitch best to not be one.

Damn, i love these posts, seeing kids rage after being banned for being toxic

''being toxic should be allowed'' go back to COD and watching dunkey videos.....

Archon X10/24/2015, 7:24:14 PM2 votes

toxicity generally isn't game related

I'm a dick in many games but I keep it completely game-related and don't make personal attacks/insults

"you need to play safer and quit trying to duel the enemy toplaner" will not get you banned

"you're a feeder scrublord trash" very well might

If he was toxic enough times, then yes.

You break the rules, you get punished. Simple as that.

Banned, definitely. Perma-banned, no

ShaftyMegee10/24/2015, 9:18:10 PM2 votes

It says in their terms and agreements that this shit is a bannable offense. You agree to it TWICE every update. It's your friends own fault for not following the rules stated by the company.

If you don't like the way this game is ran you probably shouldn't give them your business

People like Tyler 1 should of been banned years ago. But the fact that for MONTHS he has been harrasing, flaming, feeding, griefing and other shit like that is horrendous. And I get perma banned for "Intentionally AFK-ing" for 3 games even though I came back and appologized and "Being Toxic" even though people cant take constructive critism... I dont understand this. Take CS GO for an example. You dont get banned for being a right prick. Ive been harrased and "Bullied" over and over again in cs go, But I still play it. Why? Because its FUN! Thats why people should play league, through thick and thin, through better and for worse. The dedicated players will hit that mute button and play as hard as they can. People like tyler 1 should be banned, b/c they ruin games, people like me and this friend shouldn't. b/c we have our bad days, but after every storm is a rainbow... and people get through it. I dont understand this. Toxicity shouldnt be bannable. INT feeding and greifing games should.

Riot is from LA and the butthurt, SJW, safe space needing mentality is like a cult out here. They love coddling the insecure babies that can't take responsibility for their emotions and just mute someone. Mommy Rito will always enable the cry babies. That's just how it is. I was banned and this was their reply...

" If we were to administer permanent chat bans, then it removes the opportunity for personal growth for the player; beyond that, if/when the player does reform, they won't have the opportunity to be positive with others."

As you can see, they're the definition of SJWs who do the exact opposite of what is logical because they think they know how everybody should develop on a personal level, instead of just setting logical rules and repercussions and letting ppl take responsibility for their own interactions. Your rights end where the most butthurt person in the group's feelings begin. Welcome to Commy California.

It takes two to tango. If you can't mute someone then you better learn to handle insults and criticism.

I dont care what you say. I just logged in to down vote this because what you say is idiotic and you should be banned.

A common toxic phrase, "Fucking Stupid," being used in a headliner for a post that is against Riot's anti-toxicity bans. Ironic.

Mute button is a first resort for me. not going to put up with BS. Some people I like to poke fun at because they seem like ragers even in real life, but if you cant handle internet text, stay off the internet. if toxicity really hurts you well....................Stop being a pansy you little turd.

I mean, the punishment itself is not productive, as it will literally drive away players from league to other games, but you can argue it is a lose-lose situation for riot as in either case they lose players. The punishment simply could be just to "disable the chat" for toxic players. The sounds the most reasonable form of punishment. One gets punished if one exhibits toxic behavior for a long time but those people who have spent more than a thousand dollars on Riot, and who, toxic as they might be, worked their ass off to carry the game in which teammates trolled so hard don't really deserve a ban. To me, that is work ethics, complaining in words while still adhering to winning the game in action. I DON'T think permanent suspension is a productive, a cost-effective, and an ethical way of punishment, but I rather recommend to have their chat function disabled permanently. I hope Riot could listen to this, have people who had been previously permanently banned lifted and disabled their chat function instead. Please comment on my thoughts.

Thank you too everyone who has responded to this thread. I do see putting the title as "Riot Is Fucking Stupid for Their Toxicity Bans" was a bad decision in helping my argument. At the time I was agitated that Perma-Ban was a resort for a temp-ban for chargeback and a ban for toxicity that in which no evidence was provided. My friend loved this game and now Riot has turned down another large player in their game. As conclusion the title is not necessary but do not use that as a crutch for you arguments anymore. Have a great day
