Hecarim can E over enemy base gates

If Hecarim Es towards an enemy who is just on the other side of the base gate he will leap over the gate and hit them. I don't know if this is a bug or intended. If it is intended, what other walls can he go over with this trick?

His autoattack gains range when he casts E, and he dashes to the target. It's intended, he can go through a few walls, but only the really thin ones and over corners
