Software Engineer Interview

For a school project, I have to interview a software engineer or programmer. I decided to do one from Riot Games! If any software engineers could reply, that would be amazing.

  1. Do you enjoy programming?
  2. Was it difficult to learn how to program?
  3. How many programming languages do you know?
  4. What made you want to learn programming?
  5. How long have you been programming?
  6. What do you feel programming is good for?
  7. Do you have a favorite programming language? If so, what is it?
  8. Do you hate any programming languages? If so, why?
  9. When programming, do you prefer working alone or working in groups?
  10. Do you use the things that you program?

Thank you everyone !

I am in my senior year of a BS in Computer Science. I'd be more than happy to answer your questions if that works for you.

Will R K work for a name? Otherwise just email me at [email protected] for any other info you need

  1. Yes. It's a very good balance between using the logic side of your brain and the creative side. It provides unique challenges and is really rewarding for all the hard work you do.
  2. The basics are fairly easy to learn, but once you get to some of the more abstract concepts it can be quite difficult to wrap your head around.
  3. About a dozen and constantly learning more. This week alone i've been working on learning the basics of VB and C#.
  4. I really want to develop video games and programming is a field with a very broad amount of opportunities. Also the job market is always stable so there is very little risk of having difficulties finding and keeping a job.
  5. I have been programming for almost 5 years now.
  6. Programming is very good at teaching how to problem solve. It teaches a way of thinking that is hard to find elsewhere. In my opinion basic programming should be included in core curriculum for schools. The abilities it teaches are very valuable in every day life and relationships.
  7. C++ is my favorite. It's very powerful, the syntax is straight forward, and there are very few restrictions in terms of how you have to manage memory.
  8. MIPS. Me and MIPS had many long and pointless nights together in my sophomore year. It's a machine language that is no longer used and overly complicated for no reason at all. I do find comfort in the fact that i will never have to deal with it ever again.
  9. I prefer to work individually, but not alone. It's always very helpful to have people around to bounce ideas off of and provide an extra set of eyes. When programming you are going to get stuck at times but having a fresh perspective from one of your colleagues can help alleviate a lot of potential frustration.
  10. Outside of testing i rarely do. Most of what i have programmed at this point has been an assignment of one form or other. If i did create something that i would use i would likely publish it so everyone else could use it.

Hope this is enough! Let me know if there is anything else i can help out with.
