Questions about Runeterra... and food.

So this is pretty odd but here’s the deal. I’m taking a class called Food Technology and we have this assessment project where we have to make a bunch of food items based on a certain theme. I thought like the nerd I am that it would be pretty fun to base mine off League. But rather than decorating a cake to look like Teemo, I’m going to prepare some dishes that represent some of the different locations and their cultures from Runeterra.

Anyway it’s a really fancy assessment and part of the criteria is that you do “primary research” which involves anything like surveys, using social media, whatever. Which is why I’m here, so I can get some insight to help me make food and also to pass this class.

Basically just tell me your thoughts. What kind of food do you think you'd see in your favourite places? Which areas would you like to see food based on? Do Demacian meals taste like righteousness? Anything you wanna say. Thanks heaps!

EDIT: Thanks for the responses! I have some planning thingos to do for now but once I get around to cooking I'll be sure to show off the results.

Demacian food consists of just ice.

Yordles have a thing for cupcakes (I imagine them kinda like hobbits, they like to eat and aren't picky)

Bilgewater probably is like the gulf coast in terms of cuisine, seafood and spices

Ionia follows Asian cultures, so I would assume it has similar food styles

Piltover probably has fast food chains. In the city of progress, who has time to cook?

Noxus feels like a meat/protein heavy place, at least for the people who aren't on the streets.

Demacia is probably a little more spartan, but think well rounded military-esque meals

Frelijord might match some of the more northern European countries, Norway and such

Shurima is based on ancient Egypt, I would assume food would be similar

Zaun is probably a bunch of synthetic goo of various colors, some of it is probably toxic

I think that takes care of most of the major geographical locations. There are other places where there are a few loners (plague jungles, great barrier range, etc) though some of these places might not exist anymore anyway. Void and undead "eat" in a different manner, so I left them out.

Malzahar <burp> I think a voidling just came out.

Void champs eat anything.

hmmm....well for shurima you'd want things you'd find in the desert so meals made out of things like cactus and rabbits might work for that.

For noxus...probably lots of meat. Meat from animals that could be considered deadly as noxus is very brute force and would hunt those down. I'm sorry if I'm somehow miss understanding what you're asking.

Ok...ionia...hmmm this one feels much more like you're aiming for fruits and veggies type of meals.

Someone said seafood for bilgewater and I agree with that.

Shadow isles...hmmm. MM I summon you and ask for your opinion in my time of need!

I don't know about demacia though...Anyway I hope this helps as to what routes you should take with your foods.

This is actually a very difficult question for a non rioteer to answer. But, to put it to reference, I believe each of the nations of runeterra are based of fantasical versions of certain areas, like Shurima being fantasical egypt I believe.

It's not much but it might be a decent starting point.

Freljord should be rum/alcohol for gragas and goat because they liver their.

Try and look through all the lore that has ever been published and find instances of food being mentioned.

Is that a lot of work? Yes, but it's the best way to get the information you desire and is a totally credible primary source for you to use.

Demacian meals taste like honor! Fiora

There haven't been all that many references to Runeterran cuisine out there. Your best bet would probably be to scour through the old Journals of Justice, which can be found on the league wiki. I've read through every champion's lore up through Thresh (release order), and I don't recall any references to types of food. Though, judging by Caitlyn's Yordle Snap Trap and ...well, Lulu, Yordles seem to be fond of sweets.

I want to see some nicely prepared seafood from Bilgewater. You could also prepare something that looks like it consists of only extreme GMOs from Piltover.
