I miss the old Maokai. Big living tree Maokai. Throwing his E Maokai. Saving his team Maokai. I hate the new Maokai. Missing his ult Maokai. Slow as a dolt Maokai. Causing the salt Maokai. I miss the sweet Maokai. Helping trees grow Maokai. I gotta say at that time I'd like to meet Maokai. See I invented Maokai. It wasnt any Maokais. And now I look and look around and there's no more Maokais. I used to love Maokai. I used to love Maokai. I even had the dangling root, I thought I was Maokai. What if Maokai made a song about Maokai. Called "I miss the old Maokai", man that would be so Maokai. That's all it was Maokai. We still love Maokai. And I love you like Maokai loves Malphite.

The new maokai is pretty cool. Easier to maokai jungle. Maokai used to be ok at jungle. New maokai is better than ok at jungle. Only problem with new maokai is maokai ult can be blocked by leukemia's windwall. New maokai ult is not only slower than maokai, but can be "out-skilled"? Maokai sad.

The purpose of the new ult isn't to land it though. I know that sounds very iffy but landing it at max CC range is pretty insane CC. There fore is hard as fuck to actually land it. The purpose of the ult as i see it is to reposition the enemy team, which is what you'll end up using the ult mostly for. Such as protecting dragon, i don't think the enemy team is dumb enough to get caught by a 2 second CC so they would pretty much just dip out the way. Not the coolest thing but it's what it's used for, other wise you can use it at point blank for like a .5 second snare to just stop them briefly. The old ult was pretty damn good and bad ass but this one isn't pointless just has a totally different purpose.

Maokai knows why new ult is good. Maokai can zone entire team off baron. Maokai only angry because maokai ult can be deleted by leukemia's windwall, like every other ability.

Personally I think this rework is amazing... He feels far more like he used to than what they reworked him into before. I can actually deal damage with my sapling bush setups, I have to be smart about my ult (like when the old vengeful maelstrom was ground targeted), and I can finally jungle with him again. Maokai is hands down the most successful of these tank reworks, and probably one of the best of the class update reworks, period.

THAT SAID

I can totally sympathize if you miss the Maokai you loved, because that's what happened to me the first time around when they axed the jungle tree and put him top lane. Also 10/10 on the poetry, I loved it.
