I honestly did the same thing.

Locked my door, closed my window, and ignored all phone calls and text messages.

I can relate to the comic, except I live in a state where fireworks are illegal, so I didn't even have to put up with them this year.

(Grew up in a state where they are not, and was used to listening to them go off until 3 or 4 in the morning. I do not miss it. )
