Who Are The PROJECTS?

Who are they? Where do they come from?

We know this... the Battlecast's were creations of Viktor, in his quest to mechanize the world

We know this... Rumble is the creator of the Mecha's as far as Aatrox and Malphite are concerned

But who created the PROJECTS?

Are they the future of their respective champions? Turned into cyborg warriors?

Or is the truth much darker?

Could they be carbon copies? Clones of the originals with minds as empty as their soulless bodies, implanted with the knowledge and capabilities of their predecessors ?

Or worse?

Could they be citizens of Runeterra? Kidnapped, memories wiped, and their minds implanted with the knowledge of those they must emulate?

What is their purpose? What were they created for?
