Because a sequel implies that there are core changes that need to be made to the base model, so much more so that a new game needs to be made, and usually implies that the games are not being constantly updated or changed. Considering that league is in a constant state of updating itself and modernizing, there is no reason to have a League 2 because League is always making the changes.

InB4 someone mentions DOTA2, DOTA was a mod for Warcraft 3. DOTA in it's later years was designed and maintained by Guinsoo, who left DOTA to start Riot Games and begin work on an independent MOBA that could have more involved matchmaking and used their own IP, instead of piggybacking on Blizzard's. This left the original DOTA in the hands of IceFrog, who worked with it until it had to end when Blizzard shut down the Warcraft 3 server. IceFrog was then hired by Valve to create an independent sequal to DOTA, to carry on the legacy in a format that wouldn't rely on Blizzard's servers.
