Until you use the hookshot to get his weak spot, repeat the process until he is dead then you upgrade to the long shot.

You could do that? I just kept swinging and I'd eventually hit him.

Dark Link is 100% better than actual Link. There is a way to hit him if I remember without using the hookshot but it is very hard to repeat. He basically blocks all attacks and eventually jumps on your sword and hits you until you lose. So you must use the hookshot to make him dodge it and hit him quickly after and thats how you beat Dark Link.

Actually he only parries everything if you z target him, can just not z target and then just attack him a bunch also never stab attack

^ ikr! I played the game so many times...I beat it so many times too because it was so much fun while growing up lol this was my favorite fight everytime :D though i probably struggled the same as most of the people here the first time around throwing deku nuts and stuff.
