As compared to other lores in the game such as the excessively cliche edgy outcast ronin, the ninjas with blood fueds, the military general who loves killing, the military general who loves justice, the fallen angel and her sister the just angel, and I could go on.

Yes, but I am certain we have higher expectations of the developers now. Kalista's story had the painful size of today's lores while fitting to equally low expectations with the old lores :/

Yasuo isn't old by any stretch. Also, Bard's lore is like non-existent. He's a cosmic power who saves the universe - that's the extent of his lore. Kindred are the Grim reapers - also the extent of their lore. Jhin is a serial killer who thinks death is art - again, not that deep or unique.

Actually, Jhin is a psychopath and finds his killings as "Performances" which he generalizes as "Art".

Jhin "I swear each performance is the last but i lie every time."

This also hints at the fact that he knows killing people is wrong and bad but he can't keep himself from doing it.

A Rioter confirmed this aswell but it's an old post so i can't be bothered to find it now.

That doesn't make him any less a serial killer. I've seen his type of character in countless episodes of Law and Order, CSI, and various other shows. He doesn't stretch the concept at all, he's a very typical serial killer set in a fantasy setting.

The way he kills his subjects is unique and different from the average serial killer. Noone cares what you've seen from CSI or Law and Order, this is purely unique in League and in most other games.

You're basically suggesting that everyone needs to be so unique that it's never been seen in real life by anyone ever before. Ridiculous.

I never insinuated that. I was merely telling the other person that he's being too harsh by picking and choosing which lore to hate, when in reality, almost all of the lore is not that unique or original.

I am not saying Kalista's theme is unoriginal when compared to other characters. I am saying it was conveyed badly.

I mean, when someone gets angry enough to turn into a spirit and murder whoever treat people like she was treated, you'd expect he had a special reason to get so mad. Now you'll tell me that the only reason Kalista was turned into a spirit was the whole incident with the king's wife. THIS is boring.

When I go to the lore of the spirit of vengeance, I expect to hear about someone who was betrayed into murdering their own family, then eating them in some religious ceremony, then her killer tells her everything seconds before assassinating her.

Instead I get some story about some random king trying to revive his dead wife, which is also conveyed badly by the way. It isn't narrated from Kalista's perspective. Kalista is just the king's bodyguard, but does nothing in the story, we don't even view her thoughts or see her fight. Oh, and she gets backstabbed, that's all. Underwhelming. That's what I meant with "typical" (a typical backstab) and "boring" (a boring story).

Yasuo's story is actually pretty nice. An overused theme, but still, the story is nice. The same applies to the Kindred. Jhin's VO is fun and deep.

To sum up, Kalista has none of that, her lore is bad, and it isn't focused on her.

Old lore was awesome. Particularly the judgments since it offered backstory to the champions' various personalities and motivations.

The problem was that it couldn't be done well without being long. And the short stuff didn't do justice to the champions either.
