Something similar happened to me this morning. Different champion and circumstances, but at the end of a dash I was thrown back behind Voli.
Ever see a singed and alistar flip/headbutt each other?
The results are alistar gets thrown into another country. Just how the game works, flips happen at the middle of their animation regardless of where the champion is when it happens.
