Calling bullshit on Akali. They pronounce it A-Call-Ee in her champion spotlight.
I used to say "Vee", too! Had to train myself out of that one.
As for Akali, the name should be A-ka-lee. Why? She's clearly Japanese-inspired, and the correct pronunciation in Japanese would be "A-ka-lee". "A-call-ee" can't even be pronounced in Japanese. Sorry, but if the champion spotlight pronounces it that way, it's simply wrong. Or if not wrong, then at least very silly. Take your pick of the two.
As for Illaoi? Her name is, like, her secret passive that makes her awesome. Don't believe me? I recently had a game where I was in a call with the ADC. The ADC was being rather inattentive, so I elected to warn him that Illaoi was coming to gank him. Unfortunately, the warning didn't quite take, since he was completely confused by what I was trying to tell him.
"Hey, Ill-a-oy is coming in from the river!" "What?" "Uh, Ill- ... er. Ill-oi is coming." "What's an Ill-oi?" "The new one with the weird name, er-" "Huh?" "An ally has been slain!" "... that one."

Ive been saying Shaco and Lucian like that for a long time.
Back when I was just a newcomer of league of legends, I use to pronounce 
's name as Mord-Kaiser, thinking the E was silent. Until my brother told it to me. I think of Mordecai from Regular Show just to help me pronounce the name right.
I use to call Riven, Revan, but Riven was not a Jedi that was then turned into a dark lord of the sith then back to a Jedi, Riven was a Sith lord at first then turned into a Jedi.
I also use to call Shyvana, SHYvana with an emphasis on the Shy I don't see how anyone got Akali's name wrong, but I know people that say Yi like in Yikes! rather then Yi.
The only one there I've been mispronouncing is Shaco, but RvB gets my upvote.
