All you have to do is avoid the blade portion of his Q and deny him that extra stack, you outtrade him really heavily as long as he doesn't bloodrage, so it's usually quite easy. Of course, it's always possible that all the Dariuses that I've been matched against have had no idea what they're doing :P

I had dirk built after FB, no need to build Tiamat first because I'm stomping, and you're the most fed person on the enemy team and like to roam. You'd have to be bronze to think I wouldn't buy a hexdrinker.

- What item should I build/ rush first on her?
- At lategame, I find myself falling off so hard that I can't kill anybody without getting blown up. I know Riven needs to flank, but when Irelia.. and Yi's and Xin Zhaos.. are around it is impossible..
- Is Riven bad in this meta?

RaptorKarr2 votes- Whatever kills your lane opponent or makes there life a living hell, there is no rush this item first because it's good later, if your going up against a tank you want something that shreds armor black clever is usually your best bet with that, if it's a squishy do some experimenting and find what works best for you (I go Hydra)
- Well there's a few factors for that 1. being your own skill 2. being how well everyone else has been doing and 3. What your items are.
- Anyone that isn't Crit heavy this meta is a little bit sad but I wouldn't say weak all you need to do is not focus on one stagnant build you need to have many builds so you can handle many different situations and different builds work for different people.

Like Karr said it depends on the lane matchup. I go with Ghostblade into Death's Dance if it's a squishy or I get super fed early, but against a tank or a team with lots of tanks Black Cleaver is great.

Late-game you need to play sorta like an assassin. Don't focus so much on fighting their tanks, instead try to jump on their carries and blow them up. Also, getting a couple defensive items like Dead Man's or Maw can go a long way to keep you alive.

Yes. This meta has a lot of ranged crit damage and tanks/juggernauts both shut Riven down pretty hard. But, it doesn't matter if Riven has a 48% win rate right now if you practice enough it is still possible to carry games with anyone.

Sypher The Poro1 votesIt's all about practice. Just check around, there are a lot of guides and tips on animation canceling. BoxBox has a great video on it here and /r/RivenMains has a ton of people that are very noob friendly.

Sypher The Poro1 votesI personally don't have much time right now due to work and school, but feel free to add me and we can play if possible. In the mean time I'll try to explain the more basic tricks:
Why animation canceling works. All of Riven's abilities apply what is called a "Self Stun", basically while in the animation for an ability she is unable to do anything else. Animation canceling is used to get around this by overlaying the animations on top of each other.
Couple of basic cancels to use every game: -The R cancel: Both uses of Riven's ultimate (Activation and Wind Slash) have a short animation on use that prevents you from moving. You can cancel this by using any other ability, the most common being R > E. -E > W cancel: W also has a long animation that keeps you from moving or auto attacking. Using E into W allows you to "slide" onto your target and stun them then auto attack right away.
Couple more tips: Try to auto attack between spells as much as possible. Riven's passive is a large portion of her damage in trades, and without it you lose roughly 120 damage in the average level 6 fight.

Sypher The Poro1 votesBeing passive or aggressive is all a matter of play style. You just need to learn Riven's limits to understand when or when not to go in.
The easiest way to learn is a custom game. Just build some CDR/lifesteal and practice on the jungle monsters. I did this myself recently after I got a new mouse to get used to the different mouse speed.
Also, April is coming up. If URF comes out again (and it probably will) a Custom URF game is the best way to practice combos and Fast-Q.
Generally, just play a bunch of Riven games to get a feel for her. It usually takes 75-100 games before you will hit 50% winrate.
