it is not their common sense that died, it is their ability to get away with not having it.
in all honesty though the apple philosophy has made a bunch of really nice devices. they should embrace that their userbase is a niche one and all -in on it.
you mean the 3.5mm analog headphone jack?
I think it's about time someone made the step to replace this piece of shit jack with something better. It's just about the least reliable jack out there, closely followed by USB.
but in reality the lack of realiability is caused by the stress on the plug from the cord being pulled by the user. both the earphones and the charging connector sharing a plug is a recipe for an apple-grade inflated repair bill later down the road.
