Never been one shotted by a veigar. Of course I don't build pure glass cannon either. I've been comboed by one super late game when we drug it out till he had like 1400 ap, but that happens to just about everyone that isn't a pure tank.
In short, no hp, no mr, yeah any mid mage can instakill you other than Kassadin.
