Not me. I realized that Worlds was a day away this morning. All I thought about was how boring E-Sports are to me and how annoying the shoutcasters or whatever are while watching. 'XPEKE GOES IN FOR TERRAKLSEJALKDFGJALKFGJAL;KFVJALKFJGAKJFGA WHILE BJERSON COMES IN FROM ADFLKAJSDFAKLDFSGJAFLDKGJAIOFVJA;DLKFGJADFLKGJA;FLKGJADFL;KGJADL;FKJG OMG ASTTHA;LKSDFJAL;SDKJASL THE ULTS COMING DOWN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE THE DRAGON AND THEN PERHAPS THE AL;SDKFJALDFIVJA;LFDKGJAFLKJVAKLVJAOFKLJGALF;KJGALFKGJALFKGJALFKGJA THE TEAMFIGHTS NOT OVER! OMG THIS IS THE BEST THING ADLFKJASLKD%%%JIGAJEIORTJAKLFKCVANKL;SDFGJA' They just shout gibberish the entire time lol. As loud as they can. They ruin it for me.

Yeah... that's what announcers do.

Lordofthepittt2 votes

Well. The announcers are exactly what keep me away from LCS. Its literally the most irritating and headache inducing garbage I have ever watched.

So mute it?

Had a really great time going out to a bar and watching the finals a couple years back. Since then they have been in time zones that make something like that impossible, but hey one year i had fun.

Then just mute it and watch if it bothers you that much.

I take it you've never watched any live sporting event ever if that bothers you.

Don't feel like muting it because I don't find it that entertaining to begin with. It would be even less worse without sound. And I've tried to watch football, baseball, hockey, nascar, but they all bore the hell out of me.
Like really. Why would I wanna watch a bunch of cars drive in a massive circle over and over? lol

Sooooo you are complaining about watching something you don't like watching, and something in said program you don't enjoy watching is bothering you, so you don't mute it, but likely won't watch it anyways since you don't "find it that entertaining".

So what exactly is the point of your comment? Just randomly chiming in with a complaint so you don't feel left out of the conversation?

I watched an LCS game.

I was bored to tears.

Well they practice against scripters. So, in a complicated way, they are cheating.

So worlds is about to start and this game is in a terrible stat of unbalanced in large part thanks to the juggernaut update? Riot might need a new balance team if they want to keep this game competitive on any level.

DeynaTaggerung2 votes

D: how are all the comments on this negative. Pro-League is pretty intense and shows some really really good players doing ridiculous stuff. And worlds is the best because teams are really good at making plays and counter-plays so you don't get the indecisive sad games of relatively inexperienced teams. SUPER EXCITED

Keevalroy2 votes

Because some of us don't care about Pro-League as much as Riot.

Yes, I have a CLG icon because I like the team and like watching them play, and sure I'll watch a few pro games now and then, but I'm not going to obsessively drool over them and beat off to flashy plays like Reddit and Riot do. It's unbelievable how much focus Riot, a player-focused company, gives to the professional environment at the expense of the playerbase. Worlds is big and exciting, but some of us are sick of the ridiculous amount of attention being given to the pro scene; so much so that the excitement is pretty much gone at this point. More on the balance side of things, this patch has minimal changes because they don't want to impact Worlds too heavily because it would be unfair for the pro's who have been practicing on the last patch. For a player-focused company, that's just fucking gross.

I've felt this way for well over a year and a half, and as time goes on, it's becoming more and more obvious who Riot wants their audience to be - spectators. Non-player spectators who lick their dirty boots clean and worship the ground they step on, who would never dare question the idiotic decisions that normal players would. Why do you think Riot prefers Reddit? Why do you think they continue this Ask.fm BS? It opens up communication and feedback from people that can't prove they've played a single game of League in their lives - and they see nothing wrong with that for some inexplicable reason.

But enough ranting, the point is Riot has driven away a lot of the excitement by slapping pro-content in our faces wherever we go, enabling the balance team to have full control over what gets seen in connection to what they want to see, and having the pro content forced down our throats just to have a pro-scene that much bigger than DotA's.

... O.o I can't say I agree with pretty much anything you said.

Most importantly I think I disagree with that fact that the balance team has too much of a focus on the professional scene. Sure, 1 patch towards the end of the season is more fine tuning because of worlds, but think about it, that also is great for people looking to rank up as we come towards the end with a more stable game. They tend to tune towards higher level play(not just pros) because it's easier to see what's actually ridiculously strong when there are less factors affecting gameplay such as bad cs, inability to position, quick tilt, etc.

Riot is not trying to MAKE you watch pro-League, in fact if you compare it to usual advertising campaigns for sports it's pretty tame.

You have to be joking. Open your eyes.

I think I disagree with that fact that the balance team has too much of a focus on the professional scene.

First off, of course the balance team has too much focus on the pro scene. You can't look at their history extending back all the way to season 3 without thinking about their motives when it was the time LCS was going on. Mostly, they make no sense. They're ignoring glaring problems with the game and enforcing the meta they've created and modify according to what people find entertaining or boring as spectators.

Secondly, what do you notice about the picks nowadays? Have they been updated, have they received VU's or texture touchups? Chances are, they have - why does that matter? Who wants to see old, outdated, sloppy models? Not the spectators that's for sure (maybe you haven't noticed Eve getting nerfed yet again on the PBE, just saying.) Why else would Riot want to force the ugly models out? It doesn't look good for people being introduced to the game.

Finally, on that note, since you're probably one of the people believing the pro scene is a money sink, this is advertisement for champion and skin sales. Think about it. When people play flashy bullshitters in the LCS, it prompts sales because people want to be like pros. This also applies to skins they use. Now lets go back to the models and gameplay. Who would want to buy someone that looks and plays like Yorick? Who would want to play a game where teamfights last more than 3 seconds? That sounds boring, and that's a bit reason Riot wanted to crush the Cinderhulk meta as quickly as possible - even though it was the healthiest and most accepted meta we've had in years...because it was "boring..."

Sure, 1 patch towards the end of the season is more fine tuning because of worlds, but think about it, that also is great for people looking to rank up as we come towards the end with a more stable game.

This. Isn't. The. Only. Instance. Where this has happened. And you call this stable? Yeah, let's all just ignore how much they baby the pro's with shit like this. That reason doesn't apply to us because we aren't being pampered and protected by Riot. They want the pros to be content during Worlds. We don't play into this whatsoever and you know it.

They tend to tune towards higher level play(not just pros) because it's easier to see what's actually ridiculously strong when there are less factors affecting gameplay such as bad cs, inability to position, quick tilt, etc.

Explain the top picks. Explain their win rates. In some cases such as Yasuo, Kalista, Ekko, Thresh, and Lee, look at those kits and explain how they're remotely healthy. Explain how nothing is being done about them. They're flashy and they make money. Plain and simple, that's why they aren't being touched. And if they are, the pros will piss and moan like a bunch of prima donna prom queens until Riot decides instantly that they won't touch them. See: Lee Sin and ward hopping.

Riot is not trying to MAKE you watch pro-League, in fact if you compare it to usual advertising campaigns for sports it's pretty tame.

So ads for pro content plastered over every square inch of the client blocking out everything else is tame? Alright. The only saving grace from this is they stopped with the featured big plays. That was obnoxious and needed to go, so I guess good job in that regard? Keep enabling them, you're part of the problem and the reason the Riot's balance team is a laughing stock.

To be honest, I don't give a shit about worlds. Just the release of Kindred. Kindred

When I hear about some gaming tournament coming up, and I hear about people calling themselves "professional" gamers, I can't help but laugh -- and the fact that so many people fanboy and obsess over GAMERS is just... disappointing, I guess. I've seen clips of videos from gaming tournaments before, and I was laughing so hard as they narrate it like a football game. xD

Though, I'm probably the only person who plays League that thinks "professional" gaming and all that is just silly. But hey, people pay to watch other people play video games, so that's why it's such a big deal. Still doesn't make it any less disappointing or funny. :P
