Ping danger next to their lane instead of Mia in your lane. People generally react more to that ping, since Mia can mean the laner's just backed or went to another lane etc.

I had this happen to me yesterday actually. I was playing Leona, and even though I was constantly pinging MIA, twice each time even, Mid still got mad when he was ganked and accused us of not calling MIAs. I told him that we were, just look at the chat. And he told me that I needed to type it out in chat when I call them. . . .
