Games Now Pretty much end in Stomps

Kem De La Krem··404 votes·12,645 views

Every game ive been in so far as this patch has been a stompfest if its either me losing or the enemy team there is no coming back from it. I don't really like where this is going if every single game will end in 1 side stomping the game will be boring because once you lose, you lose there is no coming back from it. These changes do succeed in ending the game quicker but it gives way to many advantages to a team which win early effectively killing comebacks. Well at least its the preseason hope this gets fixed somehow :;/

30-40 minutes is the ideal time for me. 20 minutes isn't satisfying at all but 35 always feels like a nice game I can really get into. Post-50 it gets a bit drawn out but I've had several ~60 minute games and have enjoyed even those a lot more than these stomp fests.

It's really boring getting a tiny lead and not having to think about how to actually expand on that lead anymore. You just think "Well, guess I better push down these towers now". Feels like the challenge of the game stops after the "try to get an initial lead!" part, because the game kind of ends then.

I ended a game in 12 minutes -_- Graves

I think the fastest one I had last season was 13 minutes and 7 seconds and that was basically where we had 2 lanes snowball out of control

lol, at 12 minutes in, people aren't even level 10 more than likely XD

My Best (most fun ) games were a 90 min aram and a 120 min SR sooo awesome

I feel the same way. Love longer and more intense the game the better. Even if the game does result from a loss, at least it was a good game. Nothing upsets me more then when someone rages and ruins a game, and that seems like the normal for me.

Yea Inthink it might kill the game. I am not having fun anymore, and it will be even worse once they make minions insanely strong as you get further ahead. I am rapidly loosing my enthusiasm and might not even be arround still once 5.23 hits. The masteries killed diversity also. I don't feel like pressing play anymore, it's boring now, I'm just hoping they fix this disaster before it kills league.

How have they killed diversity?

The masteries before individually didn't affect your games like the Keystone masteries do.

There may be less choices, but what you choose actually matters now.

well, it can leave a lasting impression on newer players and as someone else pointed out about minions, some champions are literally designed only for their mid and late game status

15% life steal is higher than most epic items provide

Swain for instance, all the assassins, mages, they're mostly centered around mid and late game, though mid game starts earlier with assassins

when the game is focused around the early game, that leaves tanks, marksmen and fighters to out-do their opponent

Im taking a break from the game until the patch gets worked out and playing 3s only. Its very snowbally at the moment, and once behind it is extremely difficult trying to come back. Split pushing when ahead almost guarantees a win.

If Riot did something like increase the bounty on kill streak shutdown it could help change the momentum of a game and force people to play smarter when they have kill streaks to prevent giving huge sums of gold to the enemy team.

I don't know...just a thought. ( such as ending kill streak gives 60-70% of gold earned through those kills making someone who has 8-kill streak worth a considerable amount. It would actually accelerate end game items on both sides.)

i played 5 matches in this patch and right now i'm downloading hots

Terra Booma7 votes

Just warning you friend, don't go to Hots looking for longer games. In my experience games move quickly their too. The laning phase more or less does not exist. (Or is a lot shorter)

It also feels snowbally, as with levels being the only thing that matters. You don't comeback because of your team's skill. You come back because the enemy team fucked up

Shosuko20 votes

Just wait, next patch the winning team also gets empowered minions from taking turrets and gaining level advantage before they even drop an inhib or take baron!

We have so much to look forward to lol

Canastus15 votes

Lategame champions like Cassiopeia will never be viable in such an environment. Also the fact that she's an ap caster makes it even worse since they officially hate anyone who's buying AP this preseason. The only viable picks right now are early game champs like Lee Sin and pretty much everyone else who's making use of AD items. The game couldn't be worse right now.

kaltenashes12 votes

Yasuo what late game? 20 min?

kS7jqhxrGi12 votes

I think riot literally wants more people to play dota 2. I cant see any other logic in these changes lol.

Only Play Darius11 votes

Minion changes were the absolute wrong way to give winning teams a way to close out games. Making baron easier to kill would have been much more sensible. But now that their minions get buffed they don't have to push the side lanes so the winning team stays grouped forever and it becomes impossible to pick one of them off.

2Behold5 votes

Well that change hasn't even happened yet. Also if they stay grouped they don't get as much experience.

Games ending in stomps more often than not is new. Even stompy season 5 games rarely ended before 30 minutes, but now you can stomp and end before surrendering is possible if you know to push.

Eevee In A Jar3 votes

I don't know where you got this info or where your insight comes from but I've been playing this game for a long time and I can guarantee you it has always been kind of pubstompish until more recently. In fact starting around season 4 and 5, they implemented many changes to try to make the game snowball and pubstomp a lot less. Laning phase was emphasized in previous seasons meaning anyone who got ahead in lane would stomp hard. Before then was the assassin's season then the warmog tank season who all snowballed and pubstomped extremely hard. Games ending in stomps is nothing new.

What you're talking about was always possible and in fact was more meta in previous seasons because Korean meta introduced to NA to hard push lane from the first minion wave.

People always complain and whine right after preseason is patched or season is over every time. I don't know what ELO rating games you're in but games still last on average around 30-40 minutes for me (with many even going on over 50 minutes). Champions that pubstomped extremely hard has been nerfed over the course of few seasons. The fact that games ending in stomps more often now for you just means you haven't adjusted to the changes yet. Many people haven't either. These changes JUST came out and you guys are all acting like you have credibility of a pro gamer who knows everything. Unless you have actual solid data, don't talk out of your bum like that.

Holyphantom0013 votes

Disagree, have been playing since S1, and even when jax could have full offensive items and a million health while yi/GP could build 6 zeals and go 20/0 games were not this bad.

I've watched 6/0 tanks who just bought items get summoner 11 3 shotted by crit carries 2 levels and at least 1.5k g behind them.

Auto attack carries have always been a mandatory part of their team for the power then can hold.

Riot just game them a shitload of survivability via masteries and new itemization while nerfing armor items, buffing MR items, and gold hiking ap items.

There is almost no point in having ap champs on your team except maybe control tanks.Amumu Cry for me mumu.

Worst preseason changes I've seen in out of Riot.summoner 3

not on large scale like this one games were pretty even, and making comebacks was possible now its impossible, with those minnions dealing 90% extra damadge, and the push advantage they get from it / + the level advantage oh boy

Funny enough, the minions changes got postponed at the last minute because of some bug.Should be coming next patch. So imagine how the game would be if they were actually implemented.

The Patriachy8 votes

The problem is that games are shorter but they made a lot of items more expensive. It also doesn't feel as if gold generation has increased. If games are ending at 25 mins with people having 4 items, no one would be complaining. The problem is games are ending with people having 2 items.

This is what I have been saying for a long time. Over time, and especially in this latest patch, the game has moved towards a faster more aggressive less strategic game-play. Towers need to be strong enough to really punish any enemy they target. There was a time that if you tower dived without assistance or a pretty significant lead you would die. I remember long ago tower diving a single champion with my entire team early in the game, we all died and that champion got a Penta kill. The tower chewed through you if you didn't play smart and leverage strategy over moment to moment combat. That very same game we lost every single one of our towers before taking one of theirs and we STILL won the match. Those are the kinds of games that I play League of Legends to have. A nice, long, evenly matched game is by far the most enjoyable because win or lose you know you had fun. If you win you know it's because you played smart and overcame the obstacles that the enemy champions presented. If you lose you know you did your best and you learned something about the game and working with your teammates. If the game is short inevitably you either feel like there was no challenge or you never stood a chance. Neither option is any fun at all. Now towers are meaningless space holders. Fights are mostly a question of who sees the other guy first and jumps on him. Teamwork, strategy, and any hope of recovering from a mistake are being drained from the game, not only by this patch but progressively by pretty much every patch they've introduced for several years now. Unless League of Legends strengthens the towers and emphasizes strategic over momentary gameplay then League of Legends will die. Ninety percent of the people on my friends list are never online anymore at all, there were about eighty of them. If this game keeps going the way it's going the community will transform into a legion of children with the attention spans of rabbits, and the strategic sense of honey badgers (and not in a good way.) I see it in practically every game I play already. Any time things start going badly all of my teammates want to surrender instead of fighting it out. Even the team that's ahead has the gall to ask us to surrender because they're bored! It's ridiculous. I could go on at some length about how the changes to the game have changed the community for the worse promoting less mature players but I think I've made my point. Also, the new masteries system is far too restrictive.

I got dragged into LOL by my wife and 5 sons. It was great because each of us could find a champ that fit our stile and skills. I'm 58 and my reaction time is slow but I understand strategy and tactics. The game has been changing for quite a while. slowly stripping away strategy and focusing on nothing but reactions. This last couple of changes are the final straw. Now there is only one style and if you are not that kind of player they don't want your business. I've quit playing and my wife and sons have either quit or are talking about quitting. Most internet games die because the people running them outsmart themselves. RIP LOL.

LC$ BIG PLAYS

Honestly I think Riot is trying to speed up the pacing of their game because so many LCS games were 50+ minute snooze fests with less than 5 total kills.

Ding Ding.

See also the Upgraded sweeper trinket, which can clear out an entire section of the map vision wise (10 seconds of true vision that follows me? ok riot.)

That's clearly to let Pro teams clear wards, they want more ganks in the LCS, so they nerfed vision.

I'm not enjoying the fact that if you get killed once in lane, you are now two levels behind and by 5-10 minutes are just getting slaughtered over and over again. Its disheartening in the least. I always stayed away from champs that were feast or famine for this reason. It takes a lot of the micro decisions and strategy out of gameplay. Hope this gets fixed. Because I assume it ruined a lot of people's evenings via the stompfest.

I feel ya. Game feels like Modern Halo Black Ops 3 Advanced Dorito Infinite Damage yoloswagscope360 now. I thought that maybe I was jumping to conclusions at first so I played 13 games. I enjoyed League less each time, win or lose. Honestly I feel like I'm playing an arcade game now. I am done playing until things become reasonable. Maybe I'll finally learn how to play an instrument or something.

Game sucks in its current condition, to easy to snowball like people stated, the jungle is in a terrible fucking place right now, and champs like Fiora (just to name one) are out of control early on and its hard to counter. Worst patch ever.

Lol I've had the client open for so long and never bothered to press play simply because all I hear in my head is "do i really wanna play a game again with overtuned AD items going rampant?" Nah. Then i go to sleep.

Of course every game ends in a stomp fest right now. Every game I enter, there is a squishy bot, mid, top, jung, and even support. Nobody is even trying to play a tank or tanky bruiser. When it is 5 glass cannon builds against 5 glass cannon builds, the game is going to be a stomp.

I think it is time for people to bust out Rammus and Taric .

People you should be banning: Tryndamere Yasuo Graves Fiora Vayne

I totally agree! There's no skill involved when all that matters is whoever has an early lead. When you have champs like Veiger who only get rolling in the late game, steamrolling is a disservice to the champ and the game. There's no strategy--there's no glory in a game where you have no hope of recovering and coming back from a bad start. I don't understand the dislike of a long game. A long game means that the teams are equally matched or that one side is beginning to get a handle on how to deal with the other team--this is good and enhances the experience of team play, strategy and skill. Children can't sustain interest for long. Does LOL really mean to exclude people who aren't children from enjoying this game? Also, if they now believe their target audience are children, then how long will this game continue? Children soon move on to a new game that has some snazzy feature that captures their attention. I hope this is not the end of LOL. I love this game.

Like a majority of games weren't stomps before?

(I, personally, like the game "find da cocky snowballer and shut them down as hard as physically possible")

Vivid Mandala9 votes

Yes but a stomp wasn't as damning. A greater portion of games lasted to 45 minutes, and while annoying splitpushing and other tactics were effective. Most games I've spectated or played since 5.22 (and in pbe for the past few weeks) are feast or famine. The game is 10+ kills one side, and 5 or less the other by 15 minutes. Before, that would happen after 20 minutes or so.
