The people who work at riot don't get paid, the game itself sees little change, esports makes more money than it costs, and riot's profit margins are probably soaring through the roof with how popular this game is.
SO where does this money go? Tencent?
disregardable1 votesYeah, it's pretty much straight up profit, but it needs to be clear that Riot is deciding that for themselves. No one is telling them not to spend their billions on expanding and improving this game, they just don't want to over-expand too quickly.

Kitsune Goon1 votesThat's the thing though, rioters don't get paid a lot. You hear horror stories about how stagnant and shitty the work environment is, and from what I've seen they get paid significantly less than most tech startups, but make significantly more revenue.
Mirkwoodia1 votesI was just thinking, nothing concrete, but maybe they have a small tech-pool of workers and a larger marketting workforce. For dominion, they said basically... "no we don't have enough people to give you guys updates and balance stuff, we need everyone we can get to focus on SR". For idk how long, they had literally one person (MWAB) just running maintainence for Dominion, while also doing the same for ARAM and TT.
