Sorta related: I was watching the gif and saw the lizard walking up to the spider, and then during the brief stare-down of the lizard to the spider, I heard buzzing in my room and damn near shit myself thinking "REVENGE OF THE INSECTS!" Holy crap that was terrifying.

its because of the arachnid rebellion of '48. it was brutal, with the insects aerial tactics the arachnid minority would never have stood a chance without their inventive methods of guerilla warfare, the war ended with a signed treaty officially stating arachnids as a separate entity to insects. its also a note that the guerilla arachnid faction still operates in homes to piss off humans.

Or, if I called a rock a cat, I would get strange looks.

Maybe it didn't warrant the correcting, but some people are bound to notice and pointing it out is natural for some people. If someone I knew accidentally called a phone booth the bathroom, I'd look at them funny.
