I swap between Thunderlord and Deathfire because I don't know what I like more.
Sounds a lot like a Magic The Gathering Blue player problem... WHY CAN'T I HOLD ALL THESE ANSWERS!?
And yes I'm one of THOSE (counter spell lover) Blue players. But I switch between White/Blue/Black and Blue/Red/Green.
Couldn't find a good meme image for this. Sorry.
Only unfun scum play control decks.
Remove blue.
I hate White control decks... I actually don't play heavy on the counter spells. They are just to "valuable" to not include in a Blue deck.
You would probably get a laugh at my Riku of two Reflections "Copy Paste" EDH deck it has NO counter spells. My other EDH deck is Sydri, Galvanic Genius Esper artifact control deck which I'm sure you would hate. Sorry.
If I'm not running counter spells though... I would be running four each of Redirects, Reverberates, and Wild Ricochets.
EDH? Brother, you're speaking my language now.
I maintain several decks, like an actually legit Ashling the Pilgrim deck made out of 1/2 mountains and a Nekusar board-wide card draw deck (such a hypocrite, I know). The others are less-focused excuses to play all those neat mythics I have lying around.
EDH can be SO FUN! XD Unless you go up against that one guy who has a EDH deck that costs $200 or more thats meant to be a win more deck, then its just annoying and un-fun. I have, besides the two I stated before and my pre-builts, I have: Arcanisi the Omnipotent, Kaervek the Merciless, and a Thraxmundar Grixis Zombie deck (in the works though).
You know what? I'm the bastard with the big expensive decks. But the thing is, they're not expensive because they're loaded with old tutors, card draw, and dual lands to win on turn 4. It's because the Timmy in me likes a lot of out of print mythics, and some of those see eternal format play.
Bleh.
Alright I see where you come from. You find those old cool expensive cards and give them some proper love in your decks! I'm more of a Johnny though. Sometimes that "Junk" rare Sphinx Ambassador (it cost me about $1) can be found as hilariously fun! Like in my Riku "Copy Paste" EDH deck. Get a laugh at this though: My Sydri deck started out as a Dakkon Blackblade Esper color "Voltron" deck, though I didn't know it could be called that at the time... It then changed to true Esper artifact control-ish deck that it is now.
For those not knowing what we are talking about and its source page. A Timmy Player:
Timmy is what we in R&D call the "power gamer." Timmy likes to win big. He doesn’t want to eke out a last minute victory. Timmy wants to smash his opponents. He likes his cards to be impressive, and he enjoys playing big creatures and big spells.
Timmy likes to win big. He doesn’t want to eke out a last minute victory. Timmy wants to smash his opponents. He likes his cards to be impressive, and he enjoys playing big creatures and big spells.
Timmy cares more about the quality of his win than the quantity of his wins. For example, Timmy sits down and plays ten games. He only wins three games out of ten but the three he wins, he dominates his opponent. Timmy had fun. Timmy walks away happy.
A Johnny Player:
Johnny is the creative gamer to whom Magic is a form of self-expression. Johnny likes to win, but he wants to win with style. It’s very important to Johnny that he win on his own terms. As such, it’s important to Johnny that he’s using his own deck. Playing Magic is an opportunity for Johnny to show off his creativity.
Johnny likes a challenge. Johnny enjoys winning with cards that no one else wants to use. He likes making decks that win in innovative ways. What sets Johnny apart from the other profiles is that Johnny enjoys deckbuilding as much as (or more than) he enjoys playing. Johnny loves the cool interactions of the cards. He loves combo decks. Johnny is happiest when he’s exploring uncharted territory.
Like Timmy, Johnny cares more about the quality of his wins than the quantity. For example, let's say Johnny builds a new deck that has a neat but difficult way to win. He plays ten games and manages to get his deck to do its thing… once. Johnny walks away happy.

i like green decks, pooping out big creatures is always fun
Also run a red/blue artifact deck, which is amazingly fun if played right
I'm guessing you have a slight love of making LOTS of token decks as well, They can be loads of fun too! XD
kinda. So far I only have 3 decks, only one of which I built myself
White/green: bunch of white spells and green creatures, has ajani planes walker I that spits out tokens that totals my life points
Red/blue: red damaging spells, red and blue thopter producing creatures, lots of artifacts/artifact creatures, deratti planes walker to keep everything alive
Red/green: mana output spells and creatures, landfall creatures, and dragon creature combos. No planes walker in this one, but I have two dragon master outcasts that poop out 5/5 dragons each upkeep
Those sound like fun! XD
My Riku of Two Reflections "Copy Paste" EDH deck just copies... Well... Everything. Even the creatures in the opponents decks before it even hits their field!
