I'm going to be VERY honest. When I saw the Hunger X... I thought of Hunter X Hunter and was like "that's how it use to be, but who here remembers the original? they probably only watched the remake that was all about fighting and less about hunting anything, really" so I was about to say, "i bet you meant Monster Hunter" until I once again looked carefully and realized that the Monster before it reads Hunter were in fact connected. so there, I felt obliged to tell you about my stupidity. :)

"I thought of Hunter X Hunter and was like "that's how it use to be, but who here remembers the original? " Read the manga. Zoldyck - Best family of assassins, ever. Though, when the author picked up the manga after his leave - it just didn't feel the same any longer. :/ It felt like it was concluded after Gon's story was done.

I felt the biggest change when I saw limbs being blown off. I'm like, "that is a child killing himself" and felt the battle between Gon and the bomb-guy conclusion to be both stupid on both Gon's and the writers. That and...

The making woman into body-builders
The whole Ant Saga
That said, also the Ants being powerful for no reason
That said, the king can be powerful, but there is no reason for him to be that powerful
Gon lost his powers
No one is able to tell the gender of Killua's little sister/brother
Gon's dad is a jerk (the other one made him seem scared to meet Gon, this new one didn't do it even when he was unconscious)
A boring election
Less liking of liked characters

I don't know, I watched the original series before looking at the new one. The new one brought people in with the original story because the original story was what I liked, and then threw a new story that made no sense at us. Now, I'm just waiting for Luffy to find the One Piece.
