Pantheon's Grand Skyfall - Channeling time decreases with each point in skill. (proposed change)

Pantheon

Pantheon is a champion who falls off a cliff late game. His greatest strength, early to mid game was just hit very hard with the nerf to his ultimate.

We can compensate him by lowing the jump and fall time of Grand Skyfall as you put ranks into the skill. Level 1 would remain as it is now, having no affect on his early game. Rank 2 would be a slight decrease in time for the jump and fall. It would be noticeable but nothing too big. Rank 3 would see a large decrease that would let his ultimate function with much greater precision late game when everyone is getting close to maxed out item builds and has defensive items and the capability of one shotting Pantheon if he hasn't built defensively as well.

This change would make Pantheon much more fun to play without giving him any extra power until mid and late game.

It is possible that this buff to his ultimate might require a nerf to it's rank 2 and 3 damage. By rank 3 I would expect you to be able to reliably land the ultimate on someone so lowering its damage may be necessary.

They took his overpowered instastun, the least they could do is give him this

Kawaiithus3 votes

Agreed, now his ultimate takes WAAAAAY to long and feels lousy

You know this is just going to make people QQ and shove him back into FOTM status right?

I don't think so. It has no affect on his power level during laning phase. It's really only going to be noticeable post laning phase when people are going for objectives and are grouped together where they can protect one another.

But he was supposed to be one of those guys who falls off lategame, this negates it. Considering how Jax is supposed to have no early game, I'm good wiht giving Panth this buff. Now if only I could get them to buff Requiem's scaling v_v

Renekton was supposed to fall off too remember? :P

ChaosThief1 votes

If you build him tank... go full damage + crit renekton and use a fury W

225$ damage +250% if you use infinity edge and crit,

So if you had 300 AD:

About 60+475% AD(Somewhere around 1350) to a single target.

About 1400 damage, which can hit like hell. Problem is he doesn't have range to support this.

he has a double dash, assuming he goes through a unit with the first, and a single is still not bad, especially with his stun. also, to your statement "he doesn't have range to support this", so what? if he did he would be broken, as is he can close gaps pretty well anyways.

ChaosThief1 votes

It isn't as much as you think. It's about 300 range dash, and it has a very long CD. If you want perspective, two dashes is enough to reach one ranged champ, whom can run and, like vayne or lucian, create distance.

To put it simply: He gets kited for days if he doesn't get close. And with that damage, he'll die waaay to fast to even touch them.

Replying to ChaosThief below you: It's a double 450 range gap closer, not 300, making it together the third longest gap closer in the game.

Renekton doesn't "fall off," he just doesn't scale as much as other champions into the late game. He's growing in power like a straight line, while a champion like Jax or Shyvana has a curved exponential line. He's still very strong.

Panth doesn't actually fall off. He just dies easily. There is a difference.

Take MasterYi for instance. He has more damage but less control. The only way he can do anything is if they don't shift focus to him. Half decent people will notice and go for yi pretty fast.

Sorry there was no posts and it went off the first page. I put some thought into this it needs to be seen by Riot. I think it's a great way to make Pantheon feel relevant late game without making him overpowered.

Beta glitchy as hell, says your post is 9 minutes old when replying to a 3 minutes old post. Are you a time traveller mate?

Also, I'd go for this, if they dropped his base Ms to 350, no reason for it to be so ungodly high

Pantheon's ult is not intended to be reliable. It's a zoning tool and a slow but hard engage/disengage. If you make it reliable, you destroy its identity. Besides, the rest of his kit is super reliable, there has to be room for the enemies to do stuff somewhere.

I Main Swain1 votes

it WAS a strong engage (never really a very reliable disengage imho). it was already hard as crap to land on a moving target between the 2 channels, now I find it so useless against champions that it is just a short range tele that clears minion piles well, and can take you to your teamfight faster assuming you are already sorta nearby. I feel like this change would be perfectly balanced. its actually one of the less reliable ults in the game, and easier to wiff than almost all others. on top of that, when you use his ult along with his full combo (qweq) he has about 1/3 mana or so left at early/mid game, not totally sure about late game.

The point is that you will whiff a lot of the time. It is supposed to be easy to dodge the damage and slow. Skillful use of Mandrop lies in placing it so that the opponent has no choice but to get hit, because to evade it would place them in an even more unfavorable position. It's like Cho Q writ large.

No, can't do it, its Pantheon, just nerf him into the ground. kthnxbai

Considering how poor of an ultimate it actually is for anything other than clumsily moving long distances, I think this is a good idea.

Baron Perenolde1 votes

Bump for change! Give the Mandrop some extra 'oomph!' to make up for that bugfix.

We really need a red response. I thought the community beta was the place to go to get your voice heard now, but this seems to not be the case.

This sounds like a very good idea. I hope Riot gives it serious consideration.
