sona ult physics change needed?

so with the advent of projectile blocking walls (braum, yasuo) sonas ult has shown a wonky mechanic.

the ult is coded (to the best of my ability to observe) as a single projectile this results in even clipping a wall to negate the entirety of the ult aoe. even though i can draw a straight line from my champ past braums shield and to the opponents adc if braum moves just enough to clip my ult the whole thing is wasted. the first time i noticed this was when i had pretty good positioning for a team-fight. the opponents had clustered behind braum who positioned himself properly between my team and his. i was a bit late and came in from the side towards mid. i had a clear shot at their jungle and both carries past braum on the right half of my ult. upon casting it the fact that the left half of my AOE touched braums shield negated the entirity of the AOE past that point so even the right half that should have been un-interrupted dissapeared. allowing their jungle to cc me and costing my team the fight. since then ive tested this in draft and blind pick when facing braum and every time the result is the same. cliping even a fraction of my ult negates all of it. while this makes sense for things like ez's ult and other long range projectiles i dont understand why sonas ult is being treated as a "projectile" and not an AOE

Sona's ult is meant to be a projectile, not an AoE. It makes more sense if you look at her updated visuals on the PBE, it was always meant as something that you could avoid through a quick flash or move block.
