PROMO FIX

My roommate has been in a promo series countless times and i've watched a few of the games. For the games that he's lost, it was because of trolling teammates or teammates that just treat it as a regular 5v5 instead of a ranked game. I'm not sure for riots reason for not doing this and I could easily be wrong but from what i've seen riot do for the past two years of playing league and how they program everything i'm sure that they can program league to have teams consisted of players that are only in their promo, and if not then the majority of the players. I think there's enough people playing league around U.S server that can make this possible and i think it will keep league players from dropping league all together cause of teammates that aren't in promo, therefore not taking the match as seriously to try to win. Again i could be wrong and there may not be enough people that get into their series at the same time, or riot has done this, or what have you and if so a logical explanation to this would be appreciated.

I would love this. I'm willing to wait an extra 5-10 mins of matchmaking to make this happen. It took ~10+ promo series to get to Plat III this season. I'm on promo series #6 to break into Plat I right now. I've noticed that I am statistically MORE likely to get matched with less skilled players compared to my opponents ONLY during promo series games (talking silver/gold players against diamond players in some extreme cases). Would love to have a fair playing field for promo matches because right now I freaking hate playing LoL whenever I enter one.

Completely agree. I seem to get terrible match makes during the promo.

Queue the guy in promo series with 9 other promo series guys.

Let's the serious game begin.

What would everyone consider about a different reporting mechanism when you join ranked games. The reporting would be for those that troll or auto-afk, etc. I realize it would be difficult on Riot, it inherently requires a separate system created to track infractions in ranked vs. infractions in normal play. But, this would allow for certain players to get a day or week ban from ranked play because they don't treat it with the sportsmanlike conduct, thus helping us in our important games. Thoughts?

I would have to say I agree with this, but I wouldn't say that it HAS to be with others in promo, but maybe a better thing to do would be to just ease up on how much of a "clamp" you get in promos. What I mean by that is when you are in a promo game you get matched with a little bit lower level people than you and are against people on par or a little higher than you to show that you earn your rank. If they ease up on how harsh it is now people would have a more enjoyable time in promos but still have them challenging like they should be.

Actually in almost every promo series I've been in there has been at least 50% of the team on both sides that were also in promo with me. Everyone had the same amount of investment if they were in the promo but yes, all of them were not and some afk, troll.

The idea is that you are always getting grouped with people just a little bit better than you if I'm not mistaken so you can have a fair shot at moving up. I don't know that Riot could ever create a system that can fix human inclination to troll though.

I feel like the real problem is we go through Promos too often... Its easy to get bumped down with a short losing streak, and banging our heads repeatedly against a promo series we have already passed once is anti-fun.

Yes, so much this. Promos are the most frustrating part (at least in part) because there is no LP gain/loss adjustment based on matchmaking like in the other games; a loss is a loss (not that the LP adjustment is enough, but it helps). This is a brilliant and simple idea to make ranked play much more enjoyable. Everybody upvote and bump this.

You have my up-vote, and my hope, brave forum-goer.

This change would be great...

Also falling 100 LP below Leauge V should demote you... to keep some of that grace buffer but make sure trolls or people content with their League don't just stagnate at Division V and make life hell for the people in I & II of the next League down actually trying.
